iPhone 4 PROXIMITY SENSOR GLOWING RED when on call!!!

I just posted a topic a few minutes ago about the proximity sensor and make some more test's.
I dimmed the light in my room in my last test, and I see the infrared emitter of the sensor glowing red (is very low, but is there!).
If I remember some electronics, when an infrared emitter emits visible red light is because it's receiving a too high current.

This can be a mayor problem, because the emitter don't would survive too much time this overcharge.
A this point, I believe that Apple solution to the issue may be allow more current pass to the emitter, maybe too much.

Anyone can confirm this? (also if you don't updated yet).
Many thanks to everyone.

Guys, they turned up the intensity of the IR transmitter in order to get greater accuracy when judging distance. ie: the proximity sensor actually WORKS now.
All IR transmitters glow red when in use because some of light emitted from the LED is in the visible spectrum. Unless you are using a laser, you're always going to have light that is outside of the intended light spectrum. Get over it. This is not a fault.

I don't know why everyone ridiculed your question. The replies were so harsh I had to log in just to say that I noticed my proximity sensor glowing bright red last night (hence my arrival on this page); it had never done that before, update or no. It doesn't take super vision, you're not making it up, neither you nor I are in hysterics over it. Just curious. And it isn't normal and it is curious and it was a perfectly legit question. GEEZ

Mine also does it, its very dim, but its there, if you ask a question about a possible problem with the iphone on this forum, you will get people jumping down your throat defending it, not what this forum is ment to be about at all, they are quiet sad in my opinion and seriously need to get a life, the phone does have problems so all those defending it accept it rather than write snotty condescending comments to the people who are asking for help.

I have an iPhone 4 approx 18months old.

Since the iOS 5.0.1 update I have had problems with my proximity sensor not working during calls and my cheek ending calls, activating FaceTime etc.

I've tried all sorts of things to correct it, resetting network settings and all settings but nothing works.

When I make a call I can see the proximity sensor glowing and when I end the call it turns off.

Is there any way I can fix this problem, as my iPhone is over a year I assume it is out of warranty and it will cost me to fix it otherwise.

Thanks

Greg

Well I responded to the original post as it is related, rather than clog up the forum with endless threads about the same problem.

Not using a case, reset settings and restored phone to no avail. Looks like I will have to take this into the apple shop.

Was told on the phone by apple support that my warranty is out by 71 days, can't see how this should be a problem though as this is clearly affecting many people and is big problem

Are you the forum police or something?!

I'm replying to a post which was a while ago yes, but hopefully one of these people has found away to fix their problem since then, therefore being in a position to give me advice.

With apple having a turnover of $400 billion it makes me sick that I even have to come on to this thread. Apple want to charge me £25 to help me due to my warranty being out, even though this is a common problem. So it looks like I will have to go into the shop.
