iphone 3gs wifi network "unable to join"

since I updated my wife's iphone 3gs to the latest and greatest version she has not been able to login or "join" any wifi network. the phone picks up any and all networks but when you ask to join...it will not. anyone have any suggestions for the fix before we head off the the apple store.

i have tried several things pertaining the phones network settings but nothing has worked. the crazy thing is...it finds the wifi but will not allow it to join!!

Well.. i have this problem with my 3G. I have WiFi turned on, i have tried clearing the settings and rebooting multiple times.. and i have done a complete restore of my phone about 4 times now. Nothing. Still does not work on Wifi. i am running 4.2.1, and i have also started restarting my router mlultiple times.

any help?

I too have had this problem on my iPhone 3g for the past 6-7 months. It is not the router as everyone else can join the WiFi using their iphones including my daughter who also has a 3g.

It will not join any WFi network anywhere it asks for the password then says "unable to join network" I havetried in many peoples houses and publicWiFi spots where i used to be able to join.

I and several other people have tried network resets and even a complete factory reset, which lost me loads of data as the backup did not work properly.

I can't understand why it can see the networks tries to join them then can't.It is as though it was presenting the password wrong. But this is not this case either as i have set my wifi up with no password and it knows not to ask for a password but still can't join the network.

I have to say this is an awful support site that Aplle run here as you never get anyone form Apple on it, they don't care once you paid your money!
