Direct print via WiFi without a computer

Wifi is a standard.

I just want to direct print to ANY PRINTER HOOKED TO A ROUTER. Whether I travel, visit friends, lecture or my daughter simply wants to print a coloring page - wifi is everywhere. Limiting my choice of printers and locations throughout the world from which I can print is more than irritating.

It's not a question of buying another app. Tell me which app I can direct print via wifi and I'll buy it. And, one that works, really works without a slave computer that has to install software.

3 rd Gen iPad, this is one serious flaw.

I reiterate,

Wifi is a standard. If I can comminicate with my router, I should be able to print to ANY printer connected to my router.

(rccharles) Yes, I bought an apple product touting it had every conceivable connection possible including; 3G/4G LTE/ HSPA, HSPA+/ GSM/UTMS, and Yes, WiFi (I bought the 4G/ 64MB model). They even advertised it was the most advanced device that could communicate anywhere in the world. Thus, why wouldn't I assume it could communicate 20 ft to my printer? Nowhere in their advertising did they mention this inability.

Well, anyway, now I am aware. I hope others reading this will be aware and put in their budget for a printer.

To Apple: A Wifi USB Key with AirPrint standard we can put our printer drivers on... just a thought.

** I hate selecting printers. I can never settle on just one. No one printer does everything I need.
