Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
My iPad has a couple of tiny dents on the back of it. I dont have applecare for this ipad. Apple says it would be $299 to replace the ipad. Does anyone know if that is true? Can apple fix the dents or can they replace the ipad? What should I do?

If you've only had it 2 weeks and have already dented it, I don't think you should even be allowed to own such a device.
Seems like everyone is assuming that the out of warranty coverage is good for user inflicted cosmetic damage. I'm not sure that is the case. To the OP:
Take your iPad to an Apple Store and talk to them. Seems like a waste of resources to worry about a few tiny dents.
Thank you everyone, I made my apointment for April 6. But if the dents are really tiny, but are kind of deep, when you look at the dent, it looks black, but it is only about 1/2 inch long. Even if it maybe hard for them to see the dent, can I still ask for a replacement? I do have $299 to spend and I would like it to be replaced.

Does anyone know if you get the exact same ipad when you replace it? I love my black 64gb new ipad and do not want to loose it by replacing it. I do want to replace it, but I want my exact same model. Can I just buy a case, and then get the replacement ipad?
I don't know what you mean by you losing it when you replace it? I mean they won't be giving you any other model.
Oh, for goodness sake! Just go to the Apple store, tell them about the tiny dents, ask them if they will replace yours with another one and ask them if the replacement will be exactly like the one you want to replace. If whatever answer they give you doesn't please you, you always have the option to say, nevermind and go back home with your dented iPad. The point is none of us here can, with out a doubt, tell you what you want to know.
This is just absolutely ridiculous.
All I want is just to get a replacement ipad one that I can protect by getting a nice case for my new replacement ipad as long as it doesent cost more than $350 and my exact same model.
If they quoted you $299, that is the price you'll pay; nothing more, nothing less. Yes you will receive the same model: 64GB Wi-Fi black. It will either be new or refurbished.

If it was a manufacturer's defect, then it is covered by warranty. If it is user inflicted, then they must pay the out of warranty price for a replacement.

We have answered all the questions you needed. If you need specifics you really should call apple... Or even ask them when you go in. Like so many have said we can't tell you and be 100%. To sum up, yes it will be the same model if they replace it, yes you can buy a protective case (cost is something you need to do your own research, but there are plenty), and if that's what you quoted then that's what you will pay. Now whether BRAND new or not we don't know, but I doubt it as you are paying essentially for a repair not a brand new unit. But refurbished will basically new... But then again I'm not 100% sure. This is where you need to ask apple. There is nothing more we can tell you.
You can tell them WHATEVER YOU WANT. Whether they will do it, only you will find out.
