Controlling Apple TV volume w/ Remote app
I love using the Remote app to control my Apple TV. But, there's no volume slider at the bottom. I believe this functionality is supposed to there. Any ideas?
Thanks!

True but as I understood it, OP asked about iTunes Match + Remote app + Volume rather than Remote app + Airplay from local iTunes library.
I can't see why Apple would not incorporate level control in Remote app + iTunes match running through ATV, especially when you pay for a service that's supposed to 'free you up' from having all your content stored locally.
If I can select the tune that's streaming from anywhere via Remote app, its so uncool to have to also carry around another remote which is generally much larger than an iPhone/iTouch.
From iTunes on my Mac streaming through Apple TV (2) the volume slider at the top works fine for me. The master volume has no effect.
The original poster asked for ideas and I don't understand why people said that he shouldn't need what he asked for. I need it. It makes sense to take away a function only if you have the ATV hooked up to a traditional tv/stereo. If you use it instead of a stereo, to stream music, then you can control everything via the remote app except volume.
Hi Paul,
I discovered the same thing and was quite happy about it. Then, a little shine off the apple. It only works when streaming audio (music) files from the iTunes library. For video (music videos, movies) files, the volume slider is not presented. Might you have learned anything about this? Thanks for your post and for any additional info.
You know, I've never tried that. I have only a few videos in iTunes anyway so the issue doesn't usually come up. The volume slider in the iPad app comes in handy for me in streaming music when I'm outside oft he operating range of my audio equipment's own remote control.
Thx. Have fun with your Apple gizmos - I do. :-)
I have discovered that when streaming iTunes Match music to external AirPlay speakers, there is no volume slider in the Apple remote app. If you hit the controll button on the bottom left there is a pop up with a "Speakers..." menu. If you select the AirPlay speakers, there is a volume slider on the TV that you can control with the remove that came with the Apple TV, but not with the remote app.
The physical remote is controlling the TV or receiver volume using HDMI CEC
