My Iphone 5 "End Call" dose not work.

When I am finished with my call I attempt to push the 'End Call' button. The button color changes, signifying an action implimented, but then the screen flashes black then reappears and I am still in the call(timer running). If I depress the home button I return to my home screen with the green banner at the top signifying that I am still in a call. The only current way to terminate my calls is by depressing the power button on top. Unlock slider works and no trouble in any other app in that part of the screen. Is this a known issue, any solutions?

Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?

I did a backup to iTunes and reset everything on my phone after trying the simpler resets. Initially, I tried to restore from the back-up, which kept the "end call" issue. After erasing the phone and starting as a new phone, the "end call" button is now working again. The phone actually works smoother than it was prior to this glitch everyone is talking about. The Apple Support Team really helped me with this stuff. So, it has nothing to do with the new update. I think they worded it as the compiling of issues.

Yes, it is a little inconvenient to restore the apps and music, by selecting them rather than restoring from old backup, but the phone works so much better and is worth the time.

Please take the time to back-up to iTunes, and "Erase All Content and Settings" But you must set the phone up as a new phone. Do not restore from backup! It fixed my issue.

It isn't the update. Backup phone to iTunes. Erase All Content and Settings, and set phone up as a new, first time use. You can go back to iTunes and add your apps, photos, music, icloud and it should fix the problem. Do no restore from a backup. It worked with my phone. Apple Support worked with me through this. I was skeptical after reading other disscussion forums. But I'm using my phone and it is running better now!

I am on an iPhone 4 and hadn't used it in a while but never had this issue until I took it out of my drawer to use the iPhone 4 after having using the Galaxy S3 for a while. I upgraded to the latest 6.1.3 and it seems to be starting ever since that time. I doubt it is the sensor because the rest of the phone works fine and the "area" where the "End" button is when making a call is responsive to everything else, including apps, etc. I don't have many apps on my phone. I had restored my phone and started from scratch without using any backup and still get it.

Its the same for me as some of the other posters here. If I am on speaker phone, all seems well. It's only after holding the phone to my ear that when I try and hit "End" it is not responsive and either have to keep hitting it about 10 times or wait for the caller to end the call. Normally, that's okay but if you are leaving a voicemail for someone you have to to be able to hang up the phone.

I was thinking of trying to downgrade as I personally feel it has something do with software.

I am facing the same problem. In addition to this the screen goes blank when i try to retreive the call or when i am moving between applications while on the phone. This is very frustrating as i started noticing after i upgraded to 6.1.3. However it diddnt happen immediately after the update. I did phone re-set and didnt work, same problem persists.

Yeah, I am sticking to my theory that it is a software problem and I only noticed it after the latest update. I am hoping for another update soon to see if it will bring it back to normal. I too did the reset and restore not from back up and still does not work. I think it is definitley a software issue because I notice that if you make the call or receive the call and put it on speaker the "End" button will work. If you hold it up to your ear, something with the sensor and the software, prevents the "End" button from being pressed. You have to hit the power/sleep button to end the call.

Happens on 4s case as well. These cases just suck because of the screen protector not being fit to the screen creating a bubble. When pressing the end button the screen thinks you put the phone back up to your head resulting in screen turning off. When on speaker this feature is turned off and that's why many people can only press the end button while on it. Unfortunately it's the case and there is not much you can do about it, and don't listen to apple it's certainly not the phone. Lifeproof needs to redesign their case to fix the screen issue because it makes it very hard to do almost anything with this loose piece of plastic hovering over the phone. Sorry for the bad news, I'm pretty ticked too.

If you don't have a lifeproof case, then it probably is something software related. However, I was refering to the original post. That person said he or she had a lifeproof case and I'm saying that the case is the source of that problem. I also say this because a few people mentioned that their phone worked just fine once they removed the case. If you're having problems with your 'end call' button, I believe that it's a different reason entirely.
