I feel Joyce_7640's pain. I am having the same problem. Have followed the steps for recovery mode HUNDREDS of times (no not exaggerating--three nights straight for 2-3 hours at a time) and nothing. I think they are just as frustrated as I am that these supposedly simple instructions aren't working. I know everyone's trying to be helpful, but posting the same instructions that Joyce said have been attempted over and over and over with no results isn't helpful to someone who's already frustrated, especially when said "helpful" people become condescending and try to make it sound like you're stupid and can't read simple instructions. I think "ranting" is perfectly acceptable at this point, since (at least in my case) patience is long gone.

And ....you trying to search and respond to every post that talks about this serves on purpose either. Because then Other users have to follow you around as you move on from unsolved post to unsolved post. You would have been much better off posting your question and explaining what you have explained here and just do it once rather than jump around to ....by my count three different discussions now,

that just makes it harder to help you.

See above comment about being condescending....I didn't know it was against Apple Support Community Official Rules as Written by Demo to "jump around to" several posts. Why does anyone have to "follow" me around from post to post anyway? I didn't want to post the same question that's already on here a hundred times and have that one smart *** that replies with an arrow pointing to the see related questions box. Sorry, I'm just trying to find a solution to this myself, since I am not a tech geek, nor am I made of money and can't afford to pay someone to fix it for me, and I don't live conveniently close to an Apple store.

We are owners/users just like you and we're doing whatever we can to help others. If you want help from the more experienced individuals, it's advisable that you do not deliberately make it difficult for us.

I'm not trying to be rude or condescending, I was trying to help you last night but you kept jumping around - like I said 3 different discussions by my count - and it makes it very difficult to follow you around and offer help. I posted and then gave up.

I am by no means a tech geek either. My knowledge pales in comparison to many people around here. I just happen to have a fair amount of experience with the iPad basics.

If you read the one discussion I suggested trying DFU mode. You have tried recovery mode over and over again and that isn't working, so you might want to try that. If that doesn't work, try any other computer that you can get access to that is running a current version of iTunes. You will lose everything on the device, but you were going to lose everything with recovery mode anyway.
