iOS 7
Updated to 7.0.3, and still having the same problem...rear camera is a black screen, flashlight button is greyed out, when I attempt to take a picture with the black screen it locks up and I have to exit the camera app. I was pretty hopeful for a fix from this update.
Same here. No change
same here im afraid, no change.
same problem with flash
whene my iPhone was in iOS 7 the flash work on camera perfectly but whene i update it, the flash didn't work att all! i put the flash on and off and auto... nothing happened and the flash still doesn't working for me
I restore my phone to 7.0.3 today but nothing change... the flash still doesn't work at all!!
Had the same problem after upgrading to 7.0.1. Restoring from backup did not help, but restore without backup did. Afterwards i disabled the passcode and was very concious about using the cam. Today it came back after i upgraded to 7.0.3 last thursday. No cam, even the front was dead this time. No torch/flashlight.
Then, upon reading this thread again, it hit me: the Lockscreen Passcode! Someone posted he entered the wrong code until the phone was disabled and then it was ok on reboot. This didn't work for me, but simply disabling the code did (after a reboot and a minute or so).
Apple plugged holes in their lock screen, didn't that even have something to do with the camera? Anyway, i think this quick fix was a rather bad hack and is causing those camera blackouts for us.
Plus this might explain why it is only us "few": most users don't use passcodes. I for one did not, until iOS 7 coerced me to do so.
I have the same issue as you guys took my phone in after 30 mins they came up with "well it's not soft wear issues it's the hard wear that's faulty and guess what my iphone 5 is 40 days out of warranty and they will fix it for just under £250 to which I declined. As I believe in the fact that after the next update it will work.
I am having the same issue. I did try some of the work arouds and some did work. I was able to get the flashlight function to work again. However my camera is still hosed. I have a less then week old 5s and the software is all up to date. Apple needs to put a fix in for this as it is unacceptable.
I have the same problem, rear camera is not working after I upgraded iOS 7 new version. the torch light is also greyed out . This definitely is a software issue. Is apple listening. Are they going to do something about it or just let the geniuses keep giving wrong information and charging money??????????
I have same issue for about 6 weeks now without any resolution. My flash/flashlight is greyed out, panoramic option not there and it won't let me access Netflix saying it's not supported on this devise. All of these problems were immediately after upgrade around 6 weeks ago & can not get issues resolved. I'm ready to smash this useless piece of......... Before this update it was so nice & reliable & didn't make scream & swear at it everyday. Am I seriously going to have to pay Apple to be able to use this again when it's not even a year old? I have tried every advice I've found & it's still the same problems.
try factory reseting your phone and rebooting your ios7 update, that should help.
plug your phone into itunes, hold the home and power buton TOGEHTER for 10 seconds and while still holding the lock button, let go of the home button and it should ask to restore.
make sure you back up your phone before restoring.
I went to the apple retail store and they guy was helpful. He recognised the problem being due to manufactures problem (software upgrade). I also quoted this forum discussion and he kindly replaced the phone.
The phone was two months out of warranty but I had bought it from apple store . Also there had been no previous exchange of the phone so they gave me another. It seems there is something in the consumer rights, that if you have bought it from the shop it is covered under warranty for two years.
My trip to the apple store was successful, too. I live in Germany for reference, they replaced mine even though I was out of warranty and had a previous replacement because of dirt on the
CDD of the Camera.
And the best part: I got an iPhone with iOS 6 on it :D
Maybe they did that because the bug is recognised by now or it was just by chance - who knows. I did quote the other, longer thread here in my ticket.
Hth... Bye!
After upgrade of ios 7 in my iphone 4, my camera starts to freezing. After switching to the rear camera, the Camera app freezes. After closing the app and a soft reset it will unfreeze the app, but the problem occurs again. Facetime will work with the front camera, but not the rear. Tried five hard resets, setting up as new phone, with no luck.
I went to the genious bar and he changed out my phone.
WORKAROUND FOUND ! Download and install "Awesome Camera" app and take a picture with that app. After 1-2 seconds of standby, it will work. Then you can go back to default Camera app which would work again. Please let me know if this works also for you 😉
