Cannot mirror to Apple TV after iOS 7 for 5s, 5, 5 and iPad

Hi,

I have issue connecting with Apple TV for mirror function.

My Apple TV version is MD 199LL/A, software version 6.0(6645.65), just updated yesterday.

Before I updated to 6.0, and updated my iPad (3rd gen), my iPhone 5, and iPhone 4 to iOS 7, all Apple TV function worked well. I can easily mirror iPhone 5 or iPad to my TV for playing Asphalt or other games, and can AirPlay video and play music. However, when I updated all these three devices to iOS 7 on 09/18, the Apple TV CANNOT mirror either device at all. I tried several times plugging and unplugging cables, still didn't help.

Then I found the Apple TV software update yesterday on 09/20, I updated the Apple TV to 6.0, and bought a new iPhone 5s, with iOS 7.0.1, but the mirror function still didn't work. I tried iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 4 and iPad again with the updated Apple TV 6.0, none of them can be mirrored to the TV, though AirPlay function fully worked.

Are there anyone came across the same issue with the mirror function?

Thanks a lot!

This is what I have found so far with the following devices...

  • Apple TV 2nd gen with latest SW 6.0(6646.65)
  • iPhone 5 with latest SW 7.0.2
  • 2012 Mac Mini with latest 10.8.5
  • Pioneer Elite VSX-53 A/V receiver
  • AirPort Extreme 5th gen with latest 7.6.4

I can AirPlay audio perfectly using any combination of these devices, where normally allowed. However, with the Pioneer Elite it will also display what I am listening to on the tv, with the iPhone or iTunes from the Mac to Pioneer. Where as the AppleTV does not, it use to before the updates.

I can mirror my 2012 Mac Mini using the Mirror function for the entire system. However, using iTunes alone will not display the song's information like it use to. I can force it to, by going to Computers and then to the top and select "Now Playing".

So I have to say that there is something wrong with the AppleTV's update.

I too have had difficulty mirroring my iPad and had no difficulty prior to updating to iOS7 on my iPad and iPhone.

I am currently updating both my ATV and my ipad software. But if this does not solve the AP function I will try to check the router. I am not sure where to look to find these ports you mention. Can you give me more instruction please?

I know this post is a few months old, but this issue seems to continue occuring.

I have multiple Apple TV's at 6.0.2 with multiple generation of IPad's at 7.0.4.

For the most part, the generation 2 doesn't seem to have this same issue.

For one specific classroom, after doing a factory reset on the ATV and upgrading to 6.0.2, I grabbed 5 IPad's and all but the one in use in that classroom worked. I ended up restoring that IPad, and it was a temporary fix, but they reported the issue occuring again a week later. Hard resets on the IPad's seem to work okay, if only for a week or so. I switched out to a new ATV from the box in an act of desparation. I haven't heard anything back, but I told them the last few times I was down there that it's a known issue and there's only so much I can do for the time being.

It should also be noted that even though Airplay mirroring only presents a black screen on the ATV when it doesn't work, the IPad acts as if it is mirror and it's performance is SEVERLY impacted.

Still waiting for a fix for this from Apple.
