iTunes 11.1 doesn't recognize my iPhone 4s with IOS 7 - phone is charging by iTunes doesn't see it. Any suggestions?

I upgraded my daughter's iMac to iTunes 11.1 and now it doesn't recognize her iPhone 4s. The phone will charge and DropBox see's it but iTunes doesn't. Any suggestions? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the software so that doesn't work. Thanks for any help!

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2, iTunes 11.1

I've decided after a month of off and on attempts to get my macbook pro to "recognize" or "see" the brand new Iphone 5c that Apple is now doing what Microsoft was doing/not doing when I decided that the only solution was to abandon Microsoft products for Apple products. I will not be purchasing any more apple products that is minimally necessary. Call it the "Microsfting" of Apple.

My 5s was not being recognized when I upgraded to the iTunes 11.1.3. You will need to upgrade to the newest version 11.1.4. I did that today and iTunes was finally able to recognize my phone.

I think that every new version of iTunes has gotten worse with each upgrade. 😠 Before I upgraded to 11.1.3, I was still using a version of 9.
