IOS 7.04 Itunes error (1)

I could do with a little help. My iphone4 (not jailbroken) has been having an issue since i installed IOS 7.03. The install crashed half way through and ever since, my phone just hasn't been right at all. It was working perfectly up to this point. When I completed a restore on my phone and got 7.03 to work on my phone, it seemed that anytime the phone powered down or was switched off, that it then failed to reboot, meaning I had to move to recovery mode and restore the phone in order to make it work again. I also noticed that 3G didnt work properly, whereby it would turn off, and then remain off. I tried to install IOS 7.04 in the hope that the issues would be resolved, but that was not to be the case. I now can't even get my phone to restore and I am confronted by error (1) on both Mac and PC. The restore gets as far as around 60%, where it tries to restore the firmware and then hangs there for about an hour. It did something similar with IOS 7.03, both at home and in the Apple Franchise store where I live. Both machines I have tried to restore on are up to date in terms of version of ITunes, and antivirus software. I actually went through the trouble of removing my virus software to ensure it wasnt interferring with the restore process. I've never had an issue with updates up to this point or with the phone for that matter. Does anyone have an wizardy up their sleeve for repairing this problem? I have been trying to restore it for the last few days. I have tried going backwards to IOS 7.02, the last stable platform when my phone actually worked, but I get error 3194. I don't want to jailbreak my phone.. not particularly anyway. The only thing I have yet to try is a restore from DFU mode, but i don't know if that will help. I reckon this is maybe the tenth time I have tried to restore it. In addition to my restore problem, has anyone experienced issues with their handsets needing continual restores since the release of IOS 7.03?

Any help to rescue my phone will be greatly appreciated.

Hi just _mcgyver_it.

I woul book an appointment with an Apple store, or take it back to your reseller. If the phone is only 8 months old, it's still under manufacturers warrenty.

This means that they will be obliged to sort the phone for you, if the issue is found to be a manuafacturer fault, rather than water damage or something like that.

If you made onto IOS 7, you won't be able to go back at all to an older IOS. I don't know if they can tell if you have jailbroken your handset, as that would invalidate any manufacture warranty so far as I know.

But if your issue is down to the hardware, then they should replace you device free of charge, as it's under warranty. I wouldn't wait for a IOS update to come out, but rather just replace the handset all together and go from there.

Good luck.

Same issue here. I was having an issue with the iphone 4s searching for service. I tried resetting network setting with no results, and then attempted a factory reset. My phone will not restore when connected to wi-fi, and when plugged into itunes it always shows error (1) when it is accessing the firmware. i've spent countless hours trying to get this phone to work. This new IOS seems to be causing a lot of issues, hopefully Apple can get it right or i might be going back to android...

Hello everyone,

After dealing with this issue for a few days I was able to fix my issue.

The errors that I was getting were 1 and -1 on an iPhone4 upgrading to IOS 7

I read and tried every fix under the sun it seemed.

The fix for me was the DNS cache (even though I tried it on a different computer)

Here is the whole story...

I had a working iPhone4 on iOS6 when I started trying to upgrade to the latest version.

I plugged it in to iTunes and hit restore, after an extremely long DL (slow on my end) it failed.

I decided at that time that I would actually start trying and I unplugged all my other USB and used a real apply usb cable as opposed to my long one.

I also updated iTunes to the latest version and hit the restore button in iTunes again.

After another extemely long DL (because turns out my old verison of iTunes downloaded 6.1.3) I tried again.

Error 1 or -1 depending on which time I tried.

I then checked my hosts file and it was good so I tried disconnecting the battery and hitting the power buton a bunch to drain the power and it still failed with error 1.

After maunally downloading the firmware from ipsw downloader i tried again but no results so I downloaded the alternate version of the software for GSM phones which was the incorrect version so didn't even start before it failed.

Frustrated at this point so I get a netbook and throw a fresh copy of windows 7 onto it.

Update all the drivers and various runtimes then installed latest verison of iTunes.

checked the hosts just to be stupid sure it would work and it was good.

Error 1

So at this point I have waisted two days and I have alreadly replaced the clients phone as "I (meaning apple)" broke it.

So back on my main PC I start from square one and realise that I never actually cleared my DNS cache as it says in many instructions.

So I try that and 10 minutes later I got a brand new phone. 🙂

TLDR: Clear your DNS cache in Windows and Mac

Steps I used to fix it

Apple brand charger

back/motherboard usb port

hosts file empty

dns cache cleared

dfu mode

Shift click restore button for custom ipsw file / latest version

To clear DNS cache in Windows hit the windows key or button in the bottom right (windows 7) and type CMD

Right click and run cmd as administrator

type

ipconfig /flushdns

I fixed mine after giving up so don't give up and don't feed the "unplug it" and "hit buttons at a certain point trolls".

Good Luck.
