command-f is not working to search the page in safari since i upgraded to mavericks yesterday, it's working fine in chrome/finder/etc.
when i push command-f i see 'edit' turn blue but nothing happens, no search bar appears. pressing 'edit>search>search...' also does not seem to work

nope, does not seem to work. still the same problem.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
The good news is does work ...
Try restarting your Mac then try again.
I restarted, cleared again and restarted again. But I still got the same
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
Then launch Safari and try Command + F
Safe Mode deletes some system caches that may help.
Ok this is weird, I started up in safe mode, tested command-f, worked fine. Restarted normal and it's not working anymore...

I am having the same exact problem as Munnichs.. after upgrading to Mavericks, command + F in Safari is not working for me either. I followed the same instructions (deleting the Safari Cache.db file, rebooting my laptop, and booting in Safe Mode- where command + F worked fine, but then did not work after rebooting normally).
Anymore suggestions?

I'm having a similar issue. When I hit COMMAND+F, I can perform a search, but the search comes up as "Not found" if I search for a string that is halfway through a word.
For example:

I directly trashed /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/GlimsAdditions.webplugin and voilà 🙂
Same Problem - Different Solution:
Went to Library/Internet-Plugins --- Then deleted the Adobe pdf extensions (several were there probably from earlier computers).
Now FIND in Safari (command F - and from Edit menu) works like it used too.
Hope this works for others.

In addition after downloading other PDF's I noticed that this approach also solved a jerky scrolling problem I had with PDF's.
This was the first solution I found and it worked - accurate and complete. One and done! Thank you!
