From above: "4+hrs and still no activation" It has only been 3 for me and no activation.....i can't believe that I would get so frustrated over something like this, I'm a very easy going person....They need to post clearer instructions. For example, A) Do I have to leave the iPhone connected to iTunes for it to "activate"? B) Does turning the phone off and on have an effect? C) An accurate wait time for 1) Existing AT&T Customers (ME) 2) New Customers 3)Transferring a number from another network. I have called AT&T 2 times and have yet to get an approixmate actiavtion wait time.

Same here guys!!! San Francisco! The line was fast at the Apple Store, but I was aiting for a long time to have it, but I want it working.
Even when you are waiting for your number transfer, you are suposed to be able to make calls with the Iphone, according to the FAQ provided.
I called AT&T and they told me that my phone wasn't'even activated yet because they are experiencing a high number of activations and the attendant couldn't even give an waiting time estimative.
Question: Why didn't AT&T prepared theirselves for it?

Having the same problem here. Still waiting for activation.

My experience in purchasing the iPhone was great. Got to the Apple Store at 6:30 waited in line about 10 minutes. Purchased my phone and was out the door while Apple employees applauded.

My great time ended when I got in bed with AT&T. Transferring a phone number from Verizon (which I have been absolutely thrilled with, by the way). The transfer took place on Verizon's end, but AT&T has stalled it and I'm caught in that "Awaiting Activation" loop. So, I'm without a phone - can't even use the features of the iPhone or make calls from it (which I was led to believe I would be able to do). Four hours and counting and I'm still waiting. AT&T reps told me, "I'm sorry, we're just very busy right now with millions of people activating their iPhones." Ya think!? AT&T knew today was the day and they're not prepared.

I'm so disappointed that Apple chose to align itself with a company known for hideous customer service. What have I done?
