Music stops playing while browsing web

This is an annoying bug that I experience EVERY time I'm listening to music and browsing the web...no matter whether it's on EDGE or WiFi.

It seems to happen to me most often when a page is still loading and I pinch the screen to zoom into the content.

Sometimes only the iPod feature stops, and sometimes the iPod AND Safari crash me back to the home screen.

Just adding my two cents to the problem. Definitely experiencing it quite frequently, and have had little luck pin-pointing the issue.

It seems like the iPod app is crashing not simply stopping/pausing the current track. When I return to the iPod app it is not in the same place I left it. It will show a track that I was listening to hours ago, or the artist list, but not the track it was on when it crashed/stopped playing.

I'm just adding fuel to the inferno, but my iPhone is doing the same. When I listen to music and surfing the web the music stops, sometimes it will go back to home and sometimes it just locks up safari. Some times when the music stops the browser will be ok but the music stops. I've updated to 1.02 and still does it. This is my third iPhone and very upsetting. I dont know if this really is a firmware problem but a hardware problem because my first iPhone never done this. It only had a problem with google maps where the map would wig out. Second iPhone never did it, it worked for a week straight then all the sudden the whole phone would glitch out and couldn't be used for more than 1 minute. The screen would flash and look scrambled. Sooooo upsetting. anyone still encounter this with the new firmware? Any one not experience these problems at all?

wow I'm suprised. My iPod touch doesn't seem to have this issue. Although I only had about 9gb of data on the 16gb. Is your touch almost full or do you have a few gb's of free space? This could easily just be a temporary memory cache problem

Well it seems this problem is pretty much widespread. Just for thought.. I NEVER had this issue before updating to 1.0.2 and above. I didn't update for a long time either, because of seeing all of the issues others were having with updates. With the original software version, the iPod never crashed once. I definitely have this problem now, and it is only when surfing safari. I know I haven't changed my usage habits because I have used my iPhone extensively every day since June 29th. How can you put the thing down? ; ) So I feel like for me at least, the issue wasn't there until I installed the update.

In my opinion/experience, there has only been issue after issue with each update that has been released. The original version seems to have been the most solid of the software versions to me. I am sure they spent countless hours testing that software version to make it pretty solid. The updates however, seem to be making matters worse and I wonder if it's because they are throwing them together and releasing them without much time for testing which may be fixing a certain issue but causing other issues/bugs in other areas of the phone. Just a thought..

Like I said this is just my experience/opinion. Regardless.. I can't imagine life without my iPhone, it is definitely an amazing device and I wouldn't trade it for any other phone. I know they will eventually get this issue worked out as well as the others and the nice thing about it is that for the most part it's just a software update away.

I've had my 8gb iPhone since the first day, and it has exhibited this problem since s/w ver. 1.0.0 I'm currently running 1.1.2 and it will still do this (perhaps less frequently). Just adding to the list in the hopes that this is fixed eventually.

My music stops playing while using Safari. It happened to me at least six times this morning on the way to work! While looking at the Wall Street Journal or CNN home page. When you go back into iTunes, you even have to navigate back to the song. I tried powering down the iPhone BUT after I powered back up, it happened again. I had my iPhone for about three months before this started happening. I will try powering down more often and syncing with iTunes more often.

Apple, please tell us if there's a way to fix it!!! Thanks.

Ditto over here. First rev bugs, I'm not shocked. Still in love.

been there done that. ipod stopped with edge and wifi about 4 or 5 times now. hopefully a simple bug

I have experienced the same situation, both over WiFi and on EDGE. Additionally I have had the music stop when using Google Maps, but I am assuming that the Map widget uses WebKit as well.

I'm thinking it's new. I had ZERO problems until I upgraded to the newest iTunes 7.3.1.3 on Sunday 7/15.

It's amazing this bug hasn't been fixed by now. I'm using an iPhone with the new version 1.1.1, and my music consistently stops in mid-song while using the Google Maps application.

this issue occurs so frequently that i carry my nano and my iphone

I'll stand up and be counted. Same problem, also worse on media-intensive sites, also improves following a power-off.

But I'm still in love with the thing!

8gig iPhone. I'm running 1.1.2, 700MB free space, crashed iPod.app 5 times while reading this thread's first page!
