Music stops playing while browsing web

I've now seen this issue happen twice on my iPhone this morning - I'm listening to an album (Daughtry) and browsing the web (the Motley Fool) at the same time. Suddenly, the iPhone stops playing the music after about 10 minutes - in the middle of a song. I'm not sure if there is a setting somewhere that I'm unaware of, or if this is a bug. Both times seem to have close to when I single tapped on the screen while in Safari - but did not hit a link. Anyone else see anything similar?

I went to a basball game yesterday and filled my 8GB phone with pics, then on the train back was listening to a 1:08:00 techno mix then tried flipping through Safari and got the iPod to quit often. I was also able to get iPod to quit during coverflow and even just flipping through the long legal page and then used a regular song from moulin rouge and it still managed to quit. So I thought it was a problem with lack of space. I sunk my phone, took the pics off, and took off a bunch of unwanted songs. Tried again, and was able to get it to quit again. Tried a long song and a short song, and was able to get the iPod to quit both times, and this is with 1+GB available. Lastly, during the day today, I started getting the phone app to quit when music wasn't playing. I restarted (held down both sleep and home for 10 sec) and got the apple logo boot up, and after that, it's been running smoothly. I was almost ready to take it in because I was able to get it to quit on demand basically. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

This happened to me once, then without restoring or resetting it worked fine. Safari kept working ok, but when I switched to the iPod app, it had "reset", so it's probably what actually "crashed" with this bug.

It is a difficult one to pinpoint, but it does happen. The good thing is iTunes sends crash info, I ask that everyone allows it to do this, it's what Apple most needs right now, to know which are the top issues and be able to fix them. Sync often...

I'm also having this same problem while browsing with safari over wifi and listening to music. It doesn't seem to be related to any specific song. I'm assuming this is some sort of bug or memory issue.

I have this same problem. In addition to music stopping while browsing the web, my music stops while in cover flow mode and scrolling through my albums. This is very sad! I was incredibly excited. Hopefully Apple is reading these boards and reacting to our problems.

I haven't had this issue. I was in my local italian (pizza) restaurant this afternoon and was listening to music and browsing the web on edge. I went for at least 20 minutes with no problems (then my dinner came 🙂

I know this may not have any helpful info, but hopefully more posts = more apple attention (fingers crossed). I too am having this problem (tried restarting and resetting multiple times). I'm guessing its a software stability issue (maybe tied to memory usage)... who knows, but i want it fixed cause i love everything else about my iphone and i just wanna enjoy it. (hint HINT apple)

Same here. I created a thread for a related problem as well (when going through Coverflow leisurely, and listening to a song, after a few minutes of moving through Coverflow the song will stop - and iTunes will close, exiting to the home screen). VERY annoying. Can't wait to get a fix.

I am having the same problem. I am already on my second iPhone - the first stopped working on the second day.. At least now I know this new issue is fairly widespread, and will hopefully be fixed with a firmware fix soon .

had the same problem the other night while surfing web via edge and listening to music. i thought it might have something to do with my e-mail auto connect every 15 minutes. just wanted to officially add myself to the roster.

I also wanted to throw my hat into the ring as somebody who's experiencing this problem. 8 gig iPhone, seeing the iPod app crash while surfing over both EDGE and WiFi, as well as using Google Maps once.

Certainly hope this is one of the first issue to be tackled, and soon, as crashing iPod functionality does not look good for Apple nor the iPhone. Pretty shocked this issue wasn't discovered/resolved before release - isn't listening to tunes while browsing a pretty natural thing to do on such a device?

Same thing happening here. The time isn't consistent, and neither is my action at the point of groove-stoppage. But, the frustration is the same. As i see it, the sweet crooning of Amy Winehouse should never be interrupted mid-note. I'm sure the Apple Geniuses will confer.

got a new phoen after i told the guy what was up but he didn tbeliev me and tried it himself and he went to the apple.com and was leik tis workign fine...and im liek go to other sites lol and he did but still nothing happend...but he gave me a new one cuz i want lying! lol

Count me in as someone who has this same problem. While working out on the EFX, the iPod on iPhone stopped unexpectedly 3 time while in the middle of songs. I was not even doing anything else on the iPhone. Hopefully, all the messages will get Apple busy on this issue.

Same problem here, and I've seen it not just while surfing. This morning I was listening to music and used the camera, and it happened in less than 30 seconds.

I just posted my question about this under the "internet/widgets" section. I thought it was only me having this happen.

Remember we do trust Apple, they do the right thing and I am sure they know this is a big problem. Also remember how awesome the freaking phone is!

I wonder if this is a new bug. Possibly after latest iTunes update.

I think this bug would have been easily seen during beta testing and would have been fixed before the June 29 iPhone release.

Also notice no mention of this problem in this forum during the first week after the iPhone release and before the iTunes release.
