ATTENTION PORTERS ! I fixed the issue, activated in 5 minutes!

Ok , so here goes :

17 Hours into this, I have been unable to port my Verizon Phone Number to the iPhone.

I called customer service, you know, the 877.800.3701 number.

Now, let me first say this - if you get hung up on, at&t is aware of this, it's a glitch apparently. I kept calling and got someone within 30 seconds of holding. He said there were 0 people in queue, and they keep getting dropped calls.

Anyways, the solution. If you are porting, CANCEL it over the phone. AT&T will reverse, and you will get an email immediately cancelling the activation.

Reactivate, but do a NEW line of service, do NOT port. At&t states that you can port after the madness dies down. I ran through the ropes, my phone is now activated with a different number, for now. I have my old number forwarded, so calls will route to the iPhone.

Also, I am already receiving calls on the iPhone, it took about 7 minutes total...

Give it a few minutes, when I called them today they told me the full cancellation could take anywhere from 30-60 minutes. Mine was instant, and the at&t rep was shocked that I was able to activate that quick.

I dont think that will solve it...I did not receive an ineligible number prompt. Everything showed a GO on their end, they were just having problems with the porting. There are other threads where the number you want to port does not show up in iTunes

Does the restart activation work for existing account people? I called and they said they would restart it (I am an existing customer) but nothing has happened yet. The guy told me it would be restarted and to unplug it but its not working still.

I cant vouch for existing members, I was a Verizon customer who attempted to port, and then I restarted a got a temp number until I can port.

Yeah I just called the guy said no problem, one second... then he said just to turn the power off, undock it, and put it back then I would have to redo the iTunes stuff... but it still says the same old "Wait for activation" etc.

Sounds to me that if you are an existing customer they have already started some process which cannot be undone.

When they checked my status on the porting issue, no request was sent over to Verizon, so it was like the account was frozen.

I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

This is so very very very very very frustrating.

I cancelled my port, and got the email confirming.. but iTunes keeps going back to the same screen! ***..

Some one plz let us know if there is a way to fix this!
