Its not an email. Its a SMS text message. There is a difference. Big one at that.

SMS messages are charged separately from the "unlimited" data plan. They are text only, limited to 256 character (or less I think), and a long message will be broken up into multiple SMS messages, all of them counting against your 200 per month limit. No attachments, no HTML, etc.

To expand further..... to send a TEXT message to an AT&T phone from an email client, use xxxxxxxxxx@txt.att.net

To send media to an AT&T phone from an email client use xxxxxxxxxx@mms.att.net

I can email photos from my iphone (using "email photo" from the photos page) to other [non iphone] phones on my family plan and they come in as MMS messages to them. they can email photos from their [non i]phones to my phone by sending a MMS message to my email account. (the address i use in the mail client, not the @mms.att.net address)

The messages only come at the 15 minute email check interval, not instantly, but that's not a big deal to me.
