GarageBand '08 and Rewire

Hi,

I'm using Reason 3.0.5 as well as GarageBand. I just installed iLife '08 and ever since then, I have had issues with using Reason through Rewire. I've used Reason and GarageBand for about 3 years now and have never had any problems. What I create in Reason will only play in the left channel and I can't seem to get it to play in stereo. The GarageBand instruments play fine in stereo and when I play the file in Reason without GarageBand, it also plays fine in stereo.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Alex

Exactly the same here.

BTW, there is also no fix for the known problem that the ReWire audio connection between Reason and GarageBand is broken when Ableton Live is installed on the same Mac.

I recently reported the ReWire issue with GB'08 as a bug to the Props. Believe me, they already know that GB is ReWire compatible 😉

To clarify my initial posting: Deleting / moving the Ableton stuff has nothing to do with the ReWire bug introduced with GB'08. It will only fix the problem that Reason's audio is muted while rewired with GB.

Just chimin' in with my bummation at this problem. It totally stinks!

Anyway, for a totally lame workaround, one could always "mix" (painfully) with that left channel from Reason running, launch Reason alone and fine tune its submix, export a stereo audio file of that submix and import it into GB tracks until Apple fixes this.

It's better than stoppin' the magic!

That is actually how ReWire is supposed to work. You're supposed to use the master program, in this case GarageBand, to move things around. If you have ever used ProTools or any other application with ReWire, you'll find that is how it works. I'm pretty sure that in earlier versions of GarageBand, the master program wasn't as clearly defined between itself and Reason and thus you could use both to move the playhead around.
