Isnt this suppose to be a PHONE

I just got the iPhone and alot of really cool features. But isn't it suppose to be a PHONE? So why are features not available as with other cell phones.

1. Can't get ringtones I would like
2. Volume is way to low to hear it ring, even at highest setting. Appears this is a real issue with alot of users
3. Receive a call!!! No reminder alert if you were not near your phone. Other cell phones will "beep" or something if you miss a call or miss a message, etc.
4. Not so important, but the World Clock for Denver, Co is not correct. Is is using Central time and Denver in on Mountain Time. If you go to the web for World Clock, Denver is correct. What is Apple doing to settings?
4.

It is a phone.

1. Since Apple is the leader in digital music sales via iTunes and the iPhone includes an iPod and syncs with iTunes, the reason no custom ringtones are available is probably due to music licensing issues but I venture to say this will be available via iTunes in the not too distant future.

2. I use the old telephone ringtone which I think is better than the others in this regard but the volume for ringtones along with the earpiece and speaker phone volume needs to be addressed which more than likely is on Apple's list of things to do and is being worked on. This is the first model and such changes can be made and additional features added via firmware and software updates.

3. I'm glad there is no reminder alert. I don't like having a reminder alert default without the option to turn it off if needed depending on the circumstances. If Apple decides to add such reminder alerts, I sure hope it is optional.

4. Something is wrong with your iPhone or with your settings. I have Denver, CO available with the World Clock and the time provided is Mountain time, not Central time. I live in the Central time zone so there is no mistake about this.

One thing i would say,
Nobody told us or me at least to go out and spend $623.00 on a phone or iphone (ipod). it was my onw choice. We are always thiking on how China, Japan, Europe gets all the new PHONES, and we don't
NOW THAT WE GET THE CHANCE TO BE THE 1ST ONES ON GETTING THE IPHONE WE COMPLAINT TOO MUCH ABOUT IT.
GET OVER IT. AND LET APPLE DO THEIR JOB.
FOR THE RECORD
NEXT TIME YOU BUY SOMETHING MAKE SURE YOU DO SOME RESEARCH. ON THE PRODUCT
AND IF YOU BUY IT JUST TO BE COOL, ACCEPT THE CONCEQUENCES.

It is a phone, it makes outgoing calls and receives incoming calls. It integrates with bluetooth devices to help facilitate those as well.

1. That's too bad that someone "above us" has limited our ability to put ringtones on the phone. I am actually relieved that I don't have to hear others' stupid ringtones out in public.
Note, the phone DOES ring when called, supporting that it "is" a phone
2. If your phone ringer is too soft by yourself on the highest setting, chances are there's something wrong with your speaker. If you use a clip, it's probably blocking your speaker slightly. Apple has included a "vibrate with ring" feature considering outdoor noise conditions could exceed cell phone ring volume.
3. There is a reminder that pops up to say you missed a call. Try selling your complaint better stating "no audible repeating alert" for missing calls. But if you can't hear your phone anyway, what does it matter?
4. Thanks for picking up the flaw, now report the bug to apple.
4. Bureau of redundancy bureau... thanks for listing 2 number 4s

Well if you're having these problems, no need to complain here, let APPLE know on the feedback form where you can report bugs or suggestions. It's as simple as apple.com/feedback then you just select your product.

Did you have a question? No, didn't think so.

Exactly!!! What is it with you people? The OP raises legitimate questions and deserves reasonable answers like he got from at least three responders. Do the rest of you just linger waiting to pounce so you can act like a bunch of eight year olds? Grow up!!! You ruin this forum for the rest of us who are here for information and technical support - not to hear someone tell us to take it back if we have questions!!!

Ouch to a few of you responders and thanks to a few that we actually helpful. Forum, I thought was for discussion, not getting slammed. For those, I thought I did enough research on the phone, but never gave it a thought that the ringer would be a problem. My Bad! And No, I don't want to return the phone. I do like it enough to keep it but just wanted input from others if there was any status or rumors to enhance the iPhone. Ringtone to some is an annoyance, but to me it individualizes the phone. In a room full of people, if they are the same ringtone, everyone one looks around as if to say "Is That My Phone"

Thanks also to the answer about the World Clock and Denver. I rechecked mine and for some reason it still picks up time as if it were Central TIME. I however live in Mountain time so Denver was my first choice.
