iPod Touch TV Out???

I got an iPod touch 8 gig today. I have an apple universal dock & apple a/v cable. On my ipod it says tv out. Unlike my previous ipod there is no option of tv out on/ off/ ask....So, when I try to watch it on my tv all I can hear is audio...cant see any video. Did apple forget something here??? I also just tried my apple a/v cable and still no video....Help....

This link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300233 says that we can still use our iPod Universal Dock + iPod AV Cable to playback video on our tv so why the **** cant no-one get it to work yet.
It seems evryone is stuck in selecting the function that alows us to select "TV out" from the settings menu. It looks to me that that software function is just not there yet and might be released in a new firmware update.

Apple Reps please enlighten us with the facts couse this is a very vague subject.

Thank you, Ray

Before you start to get angry, I suggest yoy go back to the page you linked to and read it again properly.

Under the esction for the iPod Universal Dock the iPod touch is NOT listed, other iPods are in the list and show what they can do, but the iPod touch is not one of them.

The iPod touch is only listed in the Apple Unversal Dock with Component cable and Apple Universal Dock with Composite cable.

Use your eyes.

Okay so Ive read everyones input in this thread and I have yet to hear of a single person who has said they were able to view thier iPod touch on their TV screen yet. If their is someone out there can they give some feedback. I purchased the monster cable (30 pin connector on one end and composite with the option of s-video on the other end) and have not yet been able to get my ipod touch or ipod classic to display any signal on either one of my TV's. After speaking to apple tech support on the phone the agent told me that the only way to get output out of either device (or even turn on the TV OUT feature) was to plug in the cable that goes from the headphone jack to a set of component or omposite cables. But then when you go look at all the accessories that apple sells on thier website they say that you need the cables that have the 30 pin connector on one end and the component or composite on the other. This seems to contradict what the apple tech. told me.... so what or who is right? If the apple website it correct than why on earth are the technicians saying a different story? If it is true that you need the apple universal dock to unlock any of these features than thats pretty shady and better yet if that is so, than why would apple sell the monster cables on their website in the first place if you need their dock to unlock the TV out feature.

all the old existing ipod av cables will not work for the ipod touch or ipod classic.

THe AV cable that you need for the ipod touch to get video out isn't available yet at the apple retailer store. And if you look at the online store it states shipping 2-3.

This is what you need

I have the 30-pin component connector for the iPod classic, nano and itouch. Just purchased it over the weekend and when i plugged it in the audio worked but the video didnt; just fuzzy lines throughout the screen. Do videos need to be formated in a certain way or should any video loaded in an iPod work with the A/V connector?

There is a lot of confusion here, so let's try to be clear step by step.

Since your first sentence "+I have the 30-pin component connector for the iPod classic, nano and itouch.+" does not say what cable do you have I have to assume, you have either

Apple Composite AV Cable, Part Number: MB129LL/A. It has 30-pin dock connector on one end and composit video, two audio (red, white) and USB connector on the other end)

or

Apple Component AV Cable, Part Number: MB128LL/A. It has 30-pin dock connector on one end and three component video (Y, Pb, Pr), two audio (red, white) and USB connector on the other end.

You must plug the video connectors into matching video inputs on your TV set. Please check on.
