I've heard others had this problem, but figured I'd see what the true verdict was. Somehow I lucked out and got a decent screen for black colors, but my music definitely shuts off in the middle of browsing for no reason that I can figure out. Any of you guys/gals know how to fix this?
Same with me. After the 1.1.1 upgrade on my week 38 touch, this problem kept happening until I turned it completely off for the first time by holding down the top button and then sliding the red button. After that, Safari and music hasn't crashed back to the main screen. Always do a true power off/restart after an upgrade.
I have encountered this problem several times - say twice and hour while browsing with Safari and listening to music. I noticed that it specifically occurs (sometimes) when Safari is rendering or expanding an image (JPEG). That seems to blow the (Quicktime) music player out of the water - and displays the distinctive black screen. The image in question was not big (42k). The music player seems to recover, but it loses the order of the current playlist (reverts to non-shuffled order). (Using the latest patch - Sept 28th. I bought the iPod Touch the day it came out - Sept 14th.)
