That is a patch for Macs, not PCs...correct? If so, why post Mac solutions here?

An update on my experience with this error. I went to my local Apple store (sorry to those of you who don't have one) and for me there were two problems. Something went wrong on the 1.1.1 download and my phone was screwed up. I had not hacked into it or anything, but they gave me a new phone and at least I have phone service now. However, the guy there had no idea either on the 7.4.2 issues in connecting with iTunes. Another customer came in with his PC laptop, and the same error issue (11333). The Mac genius said that there maybe an issue between iTunes and Internet Explorer. He said something about PCs using the Explorer platform to access the iTunes store. I don't know what that means as I am not a techie. I wish the engineers at Apple were paying attention to this thread.

I've had this error for over a week but it has finally resolved itself. I had to change the fierwall settings (Macafee) to allow NTP. I then disabled the firewall and synchronised the date and time (to time.apple.com) and got the mesage to say time had been succesfully syhncronised. At this stage it still wasn't working. I then re-enabled the firewall amd sychronised the time again - this time I connected to the store OK - could just be co-incidence but if it works.......

So I was the guy that came into the Indianapolis store with my computer in hand and I have now done everything the Mac techie told me to do, including taking the computer to my law school's techies with the instructions to figure out what was wrong with explorer, and surprise of surprises even after updating everything I have with microsoft anywhere near it I still get error 11333.

The guy at the Mac store was pretty much ignoring zcatell, who came in before me and was quite dismissive. It was only after I booted up my laptop and showed him the error message that he slowed down long enough to shrug and blame it on internet explorer. I am certainly less than thrilled with the service I got on this and if apple is going to sell me a cell phone they can't just throw their hands up when their programs fail and imply that I should buy a mac.

hey lovetron7. interesting to hear that even after the updates, still no connection. I tried to do the same today with my work PC...still nothing.

To clarify your post, I was not dismissive...the genius was, which I think is what you meant. Anwyay, I agree with you. The genius was not helpful at all. I think you were there, but perhaps not yet, when he said to me that there wasn't much he could do with the PC problems because he isn't as familiar with them. Granted, that is his title Mac Genius, not PC Genius, but he was pretty cold about the whole issue.

What a mess.

This error is still happening for me, I have read that someone has uninstalled 7.4 with older 7.3 versions. This seems like a radical step and have a message into Apple to see if there is anything more that can be done aside from the advice I received from them below - which inlcudes the steps I've read before about date and time, and the cookies thing, if this works for you, great. But it didn't work for me.

First, make sure that your date settings are correct:

1) Click the Start button, then point to Control Panel.

2) If you are in Classic View, click Category View on the left side of the window.

3) Click the "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" category.

4) Double-click the Date and Time icon.

5) Click the Internet Time tab in the Date and Time Properties window that appears.

6) If it is not checked, click the checkbox next to "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server. "

7) Choose any server from the Server pull-down menu.

8) Click Update Now.

9) Click Apply.

Next, you will need to configure Windows to accept cookies from the iTunes Store:

1) Click the Start button, then point to Control Panel.

2) If you are in Classic View, click Category View on the left side of the window.

3) Click the "Network and Internet Connections" category.

4) Double-click the Internet Options icon.

5) In the Internet Options window that appears, click the Privacy tab.

6) If the slidebar in this window is set at the highest level (Block all Cookies), move it down one notch.

7) Click Apply.

8) Click the Sites... button.

9) Enter apple.com into the Address or Web site field.

10) Click Allow.

11) Enter edgesuite.net into the Address or Web site field.

12) Click Allow.

13) Click OK, and then click OK again to close the window.

I am one of those who have a 'successful' connection according to the network diagnostics, but can't get in to the store even after syncing time/date, etc etc etc. Going back to 7.3.2 did work for me, and it does take some time but if you really need to download stuff it might be the only option. I figured out how you can save your playlists & possibly save your library and wrote about it in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1154279&tstart=0

If any of the easier things don't work, downgrading actually takes less time if you prepare for it than searching all these forums for possible fixes!

If you have an iphone or just bought one of the new ipods and get the error 11333 no matter what you do, unfortunately you might be stuck until apple figures out how to fix this. 😟

Perhaps I'm a special case, but I was getting an error before this new 11333 error. In fact, I haven't been able to use my iTunes since 2006. I've just been too lazy to look into it. Recently, before 11333, I stopped being able to play music that I've bought, because it asks me to log in and then tells me that my keychain access is somethingsomethingsomething. I've fiddled with Keychain Access on numerous occasions without discernible value. I keep installing updates in the hope that they will fix it, but they don't.

Now, I am getting 11333, I can't log onto the store at all, I can't play music I've purchased off the site (although I can still play anything that was loaded on using a CD), and my Keychain Access is apparently...broken?

The fix says to log onto the Keychain Access preferences. Where is this? I can't find preferences. Please write the directions as if I were from Mars, which, in this context, I might as well be.

Thanks for any help. I'd really love to be able to use iTunes again. Or at least the thousand dollars or so of music that is totally unavailable to me at present. Should we sue, do you think?

Ditto here, have been trying for a couple weeks to get access to the "store". I have an ipod nano after spending over 500 on a click wheel and accessories that went tango uniform. Apples solution "send us your ipod and 90 dollars more and we will send you a "refurbished one" (not mine of course that had been treated like my most precious child never dropped, left in heat or cold etc) and we will "give" you a 90 day warranty. Thought I would be able to avoid this stuff by purchasing the nano....now they want to get us all with their lousy upgrades....I am so finished with Apple.

yeah, sorry about that, left out a comma I suppose. No the Mac Genius was a jerk. I've swapped a couple e-mails with the Apple support staff at this point and this is what I got a couple days ago.

"I understand you are unable to connect to the iTunes Store due to error "11333" I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.

Thank you for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible"

So I got that going for me I guess, I may not be able to use iTunes but hey, at least they want my iTunes experience to be enjoyable as possible. You know what would help with that... if I could download the free podcasts from my phone, boy that'd be great.

I got the same feedback yesterday after having called support again as to why I didn't get a response back from my email regarding the error. Hopefully they are working on it, and in fact we will get emails once resolved. Frankly it is in their best interests to fix this, otherwise no one with this problem can buy content from the store.
