Total crash when using a torrent client.

Hi,

I am experiencing a great problem last 2 weeks. I was using Transmission torrent client for 2 months, but suddenly it started to crash during the first 15 minutes after i start it. The crash is huge, because every time the computer requires a restart (you know the black window explaining how to restart in several languages).
First i thought the problem came from the updated version of Transmission, but then i tried with BitTorrent, Azureus, Tomato, xTorrent and many more and the problem was the same... perfectly working for 15 minutes and after this the huge crash.
This crash also causes for the fans of my MAC to work very loudly and fast.

Please help with this, because i don't want to re-install my MACOSX

P.S. My OSX - 10.4.10 ; My MAC - Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5, 512 RAM

Thanks in advance,

Georgi Toshkov

It really depends on the software. Sometimes http://www.appzapper.com/ may be needed. Check with the software vendor who makes it where they install things. You can sometimes use http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist to read the installer to see where it directs pieces of its software as the package for the installer typically shows all the paths it sends files too.

"tll123" - I am sure that the problem comes from using torrent clients, because every time i turn the client on my MAC crashes. Also i tried many torrent clients (Transmission, BitTorrent, Bits On Wheels, Tomato, XTorrent and others). The only client that doesn't cause my MAC to crash is BitTorrent, but it stops always around 30-35% of the download and even after i restart it there is no download progress at all no matter what i do.
Concerning the colling... as soon as my MAC crashes the fans start to work really fast but i guess that this is just a prevention mechanism.

Anyway it seems that my issue caused a lot of criticisms and negativity, so i guess that it will be better not to continue this topic.
i guess i will have to search for help elsewhere, since the the terms and conditions of this support discussions are making a CRIMINAL out of me.

"David in AZ" - i appreciate your opinion, but as far as i can see you live in USA... why don't you come here in Bulgaria (where i live) an try to find Legal software to buy??? I am sure that you will find it impossible.

Thank you "a brody" for your help.

I'm thinking there is a corrupt network preference somewhere, or an out of date router that needs new firmware that is causing your multiple network clients to crash. Your best bet is to:

1. Backup clone* your data at least twice as I earlier suggested.

2. Erase and install the operating system and connect nothing but keyboard and mouse, and internet to the machine.

3. Try the torrent client then with nothing else running. If it doesn't work, then you know you have a hardware problem with the router, cable, or network port connected to. Troubleshoot using different network ports. Ethernet versus WiFi if you have both those capabilities. USB modems are very unreliable.

4. Reimport the clone with the migration assistant.

Thank you a brody... I will try the things you described.

P.S. When i try to click "SOLVED" on your reply i receive an error message:

"Error
