Could not contact the iTunes Store to authorize?

I am getting a message saying " Some of the items in the iTunes library... were not copied to the Apple TV... because the Apple TV could not contact the iTunes store to authorize."

This problem seems to affect 100 purchased songs - so I am able to sync the majority of my purchased music - but for some reason, not ALL of it.

Apple TV software is up to date as is iTunes software... I have tried recreating my iTunes library, resetting and factory restoring Apple TV, etc. Yes I am running everybody's favorite OS, Windows Vista...

Anybody have any suggestions???

Follow up to my own post. I can copy the exact same purchased content to my laptop, and stream or sync from there to the apple TV with no issue... but my desktop just will not sync or stream purchased content.

I have tried deauthorize / reauthorize multiple times, all at once, rebuilding libraries, creating new libraries, reseting, factory restoring, etc, etc, etc. Since my firewall router treats everything on the network the same way, it's not a network issue... besides iTunes diagnostics says the network connection is fine.... I'm stumped. Apple Support is stumped (and have been for over two weeks now)... this used to work just fine before my Apple TV hardware was swapped out... Very frustrating since most of my bought content (Movies / TV Shows / Season passes etc) is on the desktop...

I am having the same problem and tried to deauthorize/authorize, return appletv to default settings, etc.. I know appletv is connected to Internet because it can look at the store and view youtube video. Could it be that the itunes store requests a connection that the firewall is blocking now? This just started to happen about a month ago. Maybe we get Apple support to observe the connection to the store when we re-authorize the appletv and ensure the transaction is properly taking place?

HELLO,
HERE IS MY PROBLEM. I HAVE A USED IBOOK G4. MY OLD ONE DIED. NOW USED TO HAVE AN ITUNES SORE ACCOUNT BUT I'VE FORGOTTEN ALL OF MY IMPORTANT INFORMATION. YOU SEE, ABOUT 4 YEARS BACK I WAS IN A NEAR DEATH MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT. I RAN INTO A 600 POUND WILD BOAR. I WAS IN A COMA FOR 30 DAYS. I SUFFERED A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. WHICH IS WHY I CANNOT REMEMBER ANYTHING. CAN YOU HELP?

I have this problem as well, however few notes:
* appleTV does not sync content which I purchased with an old iTunes acct
* The 100 errors number seems to be the max it will tell you, as I know I bought a few more under the old account and comparing the total of tracks aplTV Vs. Desktp these do not match by a difference of more than 100.
* All other apple devices (multiple iPod owner) play all content from my desktop except the appleTV
* Now I have an apple TV with about 1,000 songs and about 50 music videos less than my dsktp. It seems we will never be able to watch all through appleTV.
Simply put I think apple needs to help us all by consolidating our two (or more) accounts purchases into one, their servers are the ones needing to authorize.

I continue to suffer from the "could not contact the iTunes Store to authorize" problem. I believe you are correct that the 100 errors seems to be a max that it will tell you - my number of missing songs is certainly higher than 100. The funny thing is that I can't find a pattern with regards to the missing songs. I have tried reinstalling my library, reinstalling itunes, factory restoring my apple tv, and every other suggested solution. I can't help but think that the problem is on Apple's end. I love Apple's products, and Apple TV works great, but what is the point of having an Apple TV if it will only sync some portion of your content? I'm getting to the point that I may sell this thing on eBay and try some other device such as a squeezebox...

I am having this problem as well and have tried all of the above steps with no luck. However, here is what I did notice. Some of purchased content has a type of "Purchased AAC audio file" and some of them is listed as "Protected AAC audio file" Only the 'purchased' files are being sync'd to my Apple TV. Even though all the files were purchased from iTunes with the same account. Does this help anyone come up with a solution?
