Touch with universal dock ma045g/a

I didn't order the video cables with the dock (I may run to the Apple store tomorrow to see if they have them) ... but because they are also "hot off the press", I suspect you need the new Apple cables to get everything to work.

However, one of the other posters in this thread did indicate they ordered both the dock and the AV cable. Maybe they received theirs and can report how things are working with all the new stuff!

Also be aware that the iPod Touch ONLY works with a component cable (RGB), not with a component cable. (Got it, tried it, don't work. Read the fine print, and you can confirm that it's true).

Not only do the composite video cables not work; there is also a rumor that third party component video cables will not work either.

It would be nice to get a straight story on this. And also a bit disappointing, since I don't have any free component connections left on my HDTV.

Out of interest has ANYONE been able to get video out of their touch? if so what are you using?

I have the same dock MB125G/A.

The volume buttons work and ONLY the volume buttons. Nothing else.

No menu, no play/pause, no forward, backward skip, etc.

What is this?

Could this perhaps be something that can be cured with future iPod touch firmware updates?

Standard control functionality with the remote? I totally agree, it's kind of lame, but think about it, it's like mapping apples (no pun intended) to oranges. I would imagine a firmware update could do the trick, although they would have to somehow code/map the remote's 'standard iPod' wheel functionality to the multi-touch functionality of the Touch. A multi-touch remote would have done the trick... 🙂
