3rd party software to allow me to use Canon MF4150 scanner function

I bought a Canon MF4150 multifunction (fax/printer/scanner/copier) printer but I am unable to use the scanner function using the Canon software or what is in my computer already. Everything else works. Can someone help me figure out what I need to use the scanner?

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

One solution to this problem. I am using Parallels Desktop 3.0 running Windows XP. The Windows OS does not matter. Go to the Edit => Virtual Machine on Parallels and Add a Parallel Port - USB in this case for a printer. Next time you launch Parallels it will find the new hardware and then you can configure it after that. Load the drivers as you would in a PC.

I was using Parallels anyway since I am recent convert to Mac after more than couple decades with a PC. Even if that were not the case, this is not a very prohibitive solution if you already own the printer. I like this printer and the Scanning software that came with the printer.
