Is there a way to listen to the audio with the new front row in leopard over airtunes like you could in tiger. I was very disappointed to find out after installing the new operating system that using front row only uses the speakers on my macbook instead of streaming it to my airport express.
So the Front Row update came and went, and still no fix for this essential part of my "iLife." Unless I missed it somehow. C'mon Apple, I'll put up with glitches as part of an OS update, but this is starting to get ridiculous...
I would like to built my MacMini-media-centre solution. This is the perfect mac for the issue. And Apple has some great software for this. FrontRow,...
I received OSX 10.5- it looks great- but now you´ve canceled AirTunes in FrontRow???!!!!!!!!
So my hole media centre is broken. Thank you Apple! In the name of thousends others, who are disappointed about this.
I don't really have anything to add to this discussion, but I hope posting to this thread revives it a bit and gets Apple to scratch themselves behind the ear.
I always tell friends the main reason I use Apple hardware is that "it just works". Well, except when you want to use Front Row to yank some tunes out of your stereo through AirTunes that is...
Come on Apple, it worked in the previous version; can't be that hard to make it work in the current version, right!?
stink! I just purchased an Airport express and just expected that it would work with frontrow!! SInce the update it seems Apple have no intention of fixing this either.
thats CRAP!! If I can't browse music with my remote and have it play over wireless, there is no point! This solution now has nothing to offer over Microsoft Media Center extenders
It's pretty lame that this issue still exists and we are several updates into Leopard. I dislike (as noted previously) having a feature removed without notification.
I finally gave up waiting last weekend and took the backward step of re-installing Tiger on the Mac mini I use a media center. I miss a couple of great Leopard features: being able to attach to the mini while I am working on my laptop and control the screen without starting up our bluetooth keyboard or even being in the same room, and being able to easily attach to an external drive attached to it from my laptop. But I just couldn't deal with having to go to the regular iTunes interface to play my music (and my wife only knows how to use the remote and simply gave up on it and played frontrow through the TV speakers instead of the expensive stereo on the other side of the room!).
I know there is supposedly a way to make the old Frontrow work on Leopard, but it wasn't panning out for me.
I wanted to add my name to this post and ask for this feature to please be updated. It is incredible that a feature which previously existed in Tiger is not a part of Leopard. C'mon Apple, we're waiting!!!!!!
Well guys,
I would suggest to post ratings and comments on the Store for the Airport Express so that the other potential customers know what they have to expect with Airtunes and FrontRow.
Perhaps Apple will react to this...
I'm disappointed and p
*ed. After having purchased a MacPro in December, I just bought a MacBookPro, and intended to use Front Row with Airtunes. I can use Airfoil, however that is a dumb solution. And the artwork! I thought I'd be sitting back and enjoying connecting wirelessly to my iTunes Library, which is on the MacPro in another room, and listen through the TWO Airport Expresses which I've also purchased. I'm sure Apple has its marketing rationale, but this is insulting to loyal customers. The original Front Row was elegant. This is atrocious.
Yes, I have a solution to the lameness of Apple's decision to not support AirTunes and FrontRow (what were they thinking???). And yes, it costs $15 but it's far superior to frontrow,
and it also controls most of your non-Apple apps too (like VLC and many others)
I am dissapointed too! I just bought the Airport Express device just for the purpose of Airtunes. I've connected it with my home stereo and iTunes sounds great!....except in Frontrow.
I've allready sent my feedback to Apple so let's hope mr. Jobs will come with a solution.
Was planning on purchasing AExpress BS w/airtunes, actually about 20 minutes ago, when I did a little more looking into the BS and how airtunes is working with Leopard. I'm really shocked Leopard has regressed in the area of Frontrow. I can't imagine Apple will not reinstate the functionality of this, so I probably will purchase the BS anyway, since it still apparently streams from iTunes itself fine. And as someone also mentioned before, Apple needs to work on the handover from iTunes to Frontrow. No need to for the tunes to stop just to go to Frontrow.
Just my part to keep the thread alive.
