Topic : Mail 3.0 (Mac OS X 10.5): No sound when new email

Hmm...that seems like good info to know in general, but for the record I do leave my computer on and not sleeping overnight sometimes, and the problem has never fixed itself...

Oh, and though it seemed dubious, I reset PRAM for giggles. No help. I'm really, really disappointed Apple hasn't fixed this simple little bug yet.

That is the exact issue I am having. Some accounts play the mail sound and some do not. Nothing to do with speakers at all. It started after the install of 10.5 and continues since 10.5.1. Annoying issue as I need to know sometimes when mail arrives when I am doing other work. I get no mail sound in gmail.

No new mail sound here either. Running maintenance scripts did not help. All other sounds work properly.

I also had the "no new mail sound" problem with 10.5 However, after installing the 10.5.1 software update, mail has been working as it should and I now receive an alert for each new mail message.

Well here we are 9 days from Christmas and almost 3 months since the original post and still NO update for Mail to fix this very. very annoying bug.

Mine hasn't worked since installing Leopard and 10.5.1 didn't change anything. This is very annoying that a fix hasn't been crafted yet. It reminds me of the PC world and Microsoft!

Same problem here. I've tried everything posted here without success.

I'll have to deal with having a deaf Mail (or is it me?)..

No mail sounds here either. Running ALL maintenance scripts did not help. All other sounds work properly.

I tried Macaroni as well, no luck.

Thanks, Enrique - that seems to have fixed my issue 🙂 Dockstar was the culprit in my case. I'll keep watching though.
