Russian fonts

Is there a way for international fonts like Russian to appear correctly? Right now, they are appearing as question marks although when I do a search in google, it does seem to recognize what I inputted.

Ok, i found an easy fix for this.

Quit Firefox. Go to your Applications folder, find Firefox icon Cmd+Click on it and select "Show Packages Contents" from the menu.
Go into Contents -> Resources folder and rename en.lproj to ru.lproj.
Start Firefox again, and everything should work correctly... well, beside for 1 minor sideeffect. Your main Firefox menu will still be in Russian.

I am having the same problem in Mail, Safari and Firefox. Emails in Russian are displayed as question marks (even if you change the encoding). In the browsers, some Russian strings are displayed as question marks (for example when I use translit.ru to spellcheck my Russian). I do have русскии on my list in system prefs/international/input menu.
On Tiger everything was working perfectly.

Please advice what can be done. Thank you.

For Mail, if you tried all the Cyrillic encodings plus UTF-8, then the emails are probably corrupted by the sending end.

Can you give another example that does not work right with Safari? As for FireFox, it has bugs.

Brilliant. This worked perfectly for me. Fast, simple, and better than downloading the full Russian version of Firefox. Clearly, the Firefox folks need to fix this, as it only started happening after upgrading to Leopard (Safari and other browsers continue to work perfectly). But meanwhile this is a terrific workaround - thank you.
