After upgraded to Leopard, the search function in iCal doesn't work. When typing a event title in the search field, the search pan appears with empty contents. Does anybody get the same result?
Same problem here when searching, some events show up, while some don't despite exact word match.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302018 seemed like a solution, but didn't help. iCal 3.0.1 anyone?
I had the same problem but got it working by forcing a new indexing. I followed the instructions here, but first enabled indexing by doing the "Power user tip" at the bottom of the page.
I've been working through the weekend searching for a solid solution or explanation for the problem referred to here. I've tried every solution mentioned.
If you had no Ical search at all after an upgrade to 10.5 and fixed it please share your solution.
I still have nothing and need to search and edit my events.
The search works after doing a new Index. But the problem comes right back when I transfer my iCal data from one machine to another by way of a USB flash memory stick and I have to index again. If I use .Mac to sync the data between machines, the search function works perfectly.
In my case, It looks like it is related to the form of the data on the memory stick.
OK, I had it fixed 2 days ago, now searching events stopped again...ahh, but I tried this below and it worked!!
export each calendar as its on calendar file, then delete all calendars in ical, then import the exported ones one at a time, and boom, I can search again..but for how long??
