Want my iCal info drawer back!!

Hi,
just frustrated that they cut the ical info drawer. I know that it might be not very hand on small screens because it decreased the size of the actual calender - but with the new iCal I can´t see any info about events and todos - I first to doubleclick every event to get info - and then the bubble pops up. I´m on a two monitor setup, and when I doubleclick a todo on the right sight of the screen the bubble is hanging between the gaps of the monitors and I have to move it to be able to read. When I close it and doubleclick again it is back to the odd position...grrr...
not so happy now with this evolution - a preference of either bubble or drawer would have been cool - also the possiblity to see the bubble only with one click...
Best regards - Christoph

I hate the disappearance of the info drawer as well, and I have submitted feedback saying so.

In regard to tabbing through events, have you noticed when you are tabbing through and select an entry, if you hit Return, it highlights the title field as if to let you edit it, but then the colored wheel spins for a few seconds then iCal crashes?!...EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

Kevin, as many of us have said, it's not the drawer that we want - it's the functionality that the drawer gave. Apple has converted many of their drawers into selectively viewable areas (such as the mailbox list in Mail.app). They should have done the same thing with the iCal drawer, but instead, they made it a popup box, with a double click as the only way to access it, AND it disappears between every single use of it. This is a huge step back.

But yeah, I'm all for having it selectively viewable, like the drawer was.

!!!! Wow !!!!
Totally backwards this is definately a step in the wrong direction making things more ineffecient. I bought the family pack and installed it on my computer a Mac Pro and have been really busy with some video editing and was going to install it on my MacBook Pro for my wife. I gave her my Iphone and MacBook Pro to use, when I told her about the changes she said why would she want to upgrade if its going to take longer to input and view information, I use the Palm Treo instead of the Iphone because the Treo has more programs ( Apple should have let programmers in for native apps ?? ) and functionality for business users. ( Apple could be making a lot more money if they also targeted business users ) I was thinking about purchasing a Iphone for myself when they come out with better NATIVE programs ( voice recording, editing documents etc ) none of this web based rubbish. I really like the ICal that came with Tiger by far the best scheduling software period, but I guess I will be stuck with my Palm Treo for awhile till Apple puts the info drawer back and there are more native applications available.

I also wanted to say that I have a considerable investment in Apple stock so please Apple listen to the suggestions that people have and take it to heart and make some changes so you & I can make more money 🙂

The missing info window is the reason I cannot upgrade to Leopard.

I like most of the new features of Leopard but ical is my primary tool from dawn to dusk. 3d dock is nice, time machine is cool, progress cannot be stopped, but Apple is famous for making complex things simple. This is the reason I switched from PC/Windows 3 years ago. Still hope this will be fixed soon.

same with me - will or can not upgrade because of this stupid drawer! I already have Leopard installed on an external disc to test but can´t put it as my main system until this drawer is back - sounds crazy but this thing is just to important for me and otherwise would be a huge step back. Apple should at least give us a iCal version 2 for download that works on Leopard as long they are fixing version 3.

I'm with you all. I want the info drawer (or side bar in Leopard) back! I would like it to be to the right of the info side bar like it was in Tiger. I used both the To Do list and the Info Drawer 99% of the time I spent in iCal. The way it is now is nice to look at, but very annoying to use. I also used the DBL Click to edit the event name option in the old iCal and now that only brings up the bobble that I can't even edit with out clicking another button... Very Sad. 😟 This is the only part of Leopard that is a disappointment to me so far.
