Unable to verify discs after they've been burned (Error Code 0x80020063)

So I was finally able to burn blank media after removing some Western Digital nonsense from my Root/Library/LaunchDaemons and now when I burn a disc (only tried 3 CD-Rs so far, 2 generic and one TDK) the discs burn, but when it begins to verify the drive goes silent and I receive this message:

This disc could not be verified and might be unreliable. Try again using a new, blank disc (Error Code 0x80020063).

I put in one of the discs and it loaded just fine. I never had this problem before Leopard (I hated verifying discs, but always had the option to do so - it'd be in a few percent before I told it to stop) so I don't think it's my SuperDrive.

Any ideas?

I too am having problems burning disc's after and archive and install of Leopard. I am getting alot more duds than I ever did before - every 2nd disc I try to burn is showing with the same error code as listed by the original poster. I think in Tiger, I probably had 1 or 2 disc errors in 2 years.......i've had that many just tonight - not sure what could be happening here.

I am burning a DVD of .dng (Digital Negative files) at 1x speed that are on my Seagate external hard drive. Any suggestions?

Getting the same problem here. A few days ago, I thought my Superdrive on my MacBook Pro was shot (I was getting those laser calibration warnings). I couldn't burn CDs from the Finder, although I could burn a DVD. Changed the media, restarted, tried a million other fixes, etc. Was about to call Applecare, but then tried again a few days later and was able to burn a CD from the Finder successfully at 8x speed. When I tried 24x, I burned another CD just fine but got the error you describe.

This has to be some kind of software issue, right? Talk about aggravating!

I just had the same problem. The disc seems to burn fine but after that the described error comes up.

When I insert the disc which was burned on my iMac with Leopard into my Macbook it takes ages - it seems to analyze the disc and then it gets ejected. When I insert it into my iMac it says I inserted an empty disc but it only has 600 MB left.

The CD is a Platinum DVD+R 4,7 GB 8x Speed.

It's especially annoying since I first tried to copy the data to an external USB drive which caused a kernel panic. Now I can't copy the data to the hard disk AND I can't burn it on a DVD. Not good 😟

I'll try to burn it on the Macbook...

I have the same problem and have not been able to fix it. I performed and "archive and install" but that didn't help.

Using the Finder, I get the following error message:

Burning the disc failed because an unexpected error occured. (Error code 0x8002006E

Using Toast 8, I get the following error messages:

The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code - 0x0C
WRITE ERROR

The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST
Sense Code = 0x21, 0x02
BUFFER UNDERRUN

The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code = 0x15, 0x02
POSITIONING ERROR DETECTED BY READ OF MEDIUM

My iMac, an Intel Core 2 Duo, is just over a year old. I never had any problems burning discs in Tiger. All my software, including the system, is up to date. I am running no other applications during the burn. I don't even touch the keyboard. I've tried both DVD+R and DVD-R.

Same deal with a clean install of Leopard on a 1st Gen Intel iMac. It only seems to happen when trying to burn with Finder though. I use a program called Disco (http://www.discoapp.com) and it works just fine, every time. It verifies and everything. When doing it with the Finder it seems to pretty consistently fail. I'm going to keep re-burning a disk and see if I can narrow down the cause.
