Unable to verify discs after they've been burned (Error Code 0x80020063)

So I was finally able to burn blank media after removing some Western Digital nonsense from my Root/Library/LaunchDaemons and now when I burn a disc (only tried 3 CD-Rs so far, 2 generic and one TDK) the discs burn, but when it begins to verify the drive goes silent and I receive this message:

This disc could not be verified and might be unreliable. Try again using a new, blank disc (Error Code 0x80020063).

I put in one of the discs and it loaded just fine. I never had this problem before Leopard (I hated verifying discs, but always had the option to do so - it'd be in a few percent before I told it to stop) so I don't think it's my SuperDrive.

Any ideas?

Well, my call to AppleCare got my iMac's PRAM reset, Power Management reset, and 4 new DVD coasters. (in addition to the 5 I had already created.)

My trip to see the local Apple geniuses today got me 2 new coasters (using my media -- Memorex 16x DVD+R) Then they used their own media (some generic Staples brand 16x DVD-R), and it worked fine.

I stopped at Target on my way home and they only carry either Memorex or Sony brand DVDs, so I bought the Sony brand DVD-Rs, The first one failed during the burning process (not the verifying) with a different error than the one we've been getting when it verifies (0x80020063), the 2nd try worked fine for me. I consider this a great deal of progress considering I haven't been able to burn a DVD since I first tried to.

I'm going to start trying other media brands, as these Pioneer CD/DVDRWs that come with the iMacs seem to be very picky.

I'd like to what brand of media everyone who is posting in here has been using. I know technically it shouldn't matter, but it's worth noting either way.

Got the same problem. My macbook is the new version of Nov 2007. 2.2ghz white.

I have a stack of Traxdata CD-Rs which burnt fine with other laptops such as dell and acer. The same discs when burnt with Finder or Disk Utility always fail on verification. Finder gives me the error 0x80020063 on verification, while Disk Utility just says that verification failed. "Burn", a free software from sourceforge, also fails verification.

As a test, I tried these:
These WORK in Finder everytime: TDK DVD+R, Imation CDRW, Imation CDR
These FAIL in Finder verification everytime: Traxata CD-R

I downloaded Debian Lenny cd 1 and 2 iso images and tested Disk Utility, Burn (from sourceforge) and Disco.

Tried burning CD1 using Disk Utility, Burn and Disco on Traxdata CDR. Only Disco succeeded. Then tried burning CD1 using Disk Utility on Imation CDR which succeeded.

These WORK in Disk Utility burning iso images: Imation CDRW, Imation CDR
These FAIL verification in Disk Utility and "Burn" burning iso: Traxdata CDR

Apple support is not very helpful either since this seems to be a problem with software being too picky about media. I hate having to pay for a disc burning software like Disco, when quality burners are freely available in both Windows and Linux.

I'm in the same boat as so many of you posting ahead of me here. The "Error code 0x80020063" has hit me 6 times in the past two days. I'm attempting to archive my entire music collection to Sony DVD+R SL and every few burns, my verification is failing, but the actual burns are going off without a hitch.

Only because this matters so much to me (I lost 200+GB of music last month after a botched firmware update on my LaCie external drive), I would ask of those who know for sure...is the verification absolutely necessary? I just had another failed verify and after reinserting the DVD, everything appears to be fine. The music plays from the DVD.

I too spoke to AppleCare this morning and was told to insert my 10.5 install disc, run the Disk Utility from the install screen, and repair permissions on my HD. Seemed odd to me, and I've already had two more DVD's putz out during verification since the call.

If nothing more, I'm just tossing my hat in the ring. I have had 10 successful burns in the past 24 hours, but having tossed 6 DVD's in the trash (thank god they're cheap!), I'm getting annoyed.

I have the same verification problem burning to DVD -R disks. - code 80020063 - I can burn a 1.47gb video_ts file with no problem, but when I try a 4.1gb video_ts file it fails verification every time. I have tried every burn speed and also on my iMac G5 20". My guess is that file size is the problem - hence the threads where people are backing up to DVD? Only burning 1.47gb to a 4.7gb file is not a problem for me, but I would like to be able to burn larger video_ts files

Had this problem ever since I upgraded to this current machine and from Panther to Tiger and that has been a year now. Tried all the things on the different forums for this issue without success. I finally solved the problem when I realized that I only had this issue when using a burn folder to burn disks. If I dragged files directly to a disk it would burn fine. On a lark, I used the get info command on each item in a burn folder I use to back up my user account, and then clicked the button to select a new original.

When I originally created my burn folder I command clicked on many items in my user folder to back up and dragged them all at once to the burn folder. I'm only guessing, but perhaps one of the alias's was somehow corrupted because since selecting new originals, the burn process has worked fine no matter what speed I burn at. I never got an error message saying I had an "orphaned alias" but it appears that was my issue or something connected to it. Hope this helps some of you.

I am having this problem on 10.4.11. EVERY disc I burn fails verification. It looks like all of the files are there.. but when I try to open some of them I get disk read errors. The files wont open. I am having the same problem on 2 separate 20" imacs, one PPC one intel. My fix was to burn from an external DVD-R drive.
Is there any fix for this!? I have about 10 coasters now... I really only need one!
