Leopard - Keyboard Freeze?

I installed Leopard last night (Erased and Installed) and thought that everything went fine until I started noticing that my keyboard freezes up every now and then. Keystrokes don't register for about a minute and then everything works fine again. Keystrokes that I enter when the freeze happen do not 'buffer' and are completely lost.

Does anyone know why this may be happening?

Thanks!

I'm also an attorney, but that's beside the point. I love my PowerBook, but it's sad when I can't type on it or use the trackpad. It happens on resume from sleep and requires a complete power off to fix, not just reboot. If I don't have a USB keyboard to plug in (or at least a USB mouse), I have to hold down the power button and lose whatever I'm working on. (Also, this can't be good for the file system.)

Also, the problem seems to be getting worse. Once a day for the last few days.

I'm sure this'll get fixed. I just hope it's sooner rather than later. If any Apple engineer needs some extra caffeine to work through this, I'll be happy to come over and bring the cappuccinos. Thanks.

Although I've discovered that if you don't let your Leopard to sleep, the keyboard stays functional. So after each restart you will have to keep the lid open and change the power settings.

In a way I have discovered to operate my Macbook while the keyboard and the trackpad is frozen. I have an utility called RemoteBuddy which has a feature called AJAX Remote which allows me to operate the system via iPhone. So I can shut the machine down or restart her in more humanistic way.

So now I have a Macintosh laptop which I have to shut down and restart every time I stop and start using it. This doesn't sound too cool. Love starts to run out. Do I really have to switch back to Tiger?

Having keyboard freeze issues on MBP, MB, PBG4 and a Mac mini, all with OS 10.5.1. Issues are the same using the laptop keyboards, Apple wireless keyboard, Apple USB keyboard or Logitech USB keyboard--have been mixing/matching trying to find a combination that works. Most of our time is spent in Entourage or FileMaker 9.0v3. Keyboard freezes are rampant in Entourage, not in FM. Have repaired disk permissions, reset PRAM.

Have also had more 'unexpectedly quit' messages than I've experienced in years (I've been on Mac since 1986) as well as repeated 'dark screen, must restart' messages. Apple, it's really slowing down my productivity. Hoping for a solution soon...

I have found a temporary solution for me. Gets me back on track. See if this helps anyone else. This is on my last gen PowerBook, latest Leopard, Apple wireless mouse and Apple wireless keyboard.

1. Summon spotlight (Apple-Space).

2. Type in "Bluetooth" in spotlight field (I still have my laptop keyboard responding, just no bluetooth wireless keyboard or mouse).

3. Wait for Bluetooth of the System Preferences to show up. Scroll down to it and press enter.

System prefs will attempt to load it, and it takes a couple minutes. Once it has loaded, wait a couple more minutes... you will then see the "lost connection" symbols and then they come back and I can once again type in my wireless keyboard and use my mouse.

Does this help anyone else?

Ok, so my problem is identical to "newonethree" posted above; it's Jan 29 2008 as I write this - is there a fix?

My mac mini works fine except for Excel 2004, in which the keyboard will lock and sometimes even kick the machine into a login screen. My iMac will not replicate the problem, and switching keyboard& mouse makes no difference. (Both machines run leopard 10.5.1, all updates.)

The problem must be in the mini hardware, or in the software. Since it occurs in only Excel, and only on the mini, it seems to be both...

So I ask, I plead, IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS?

Thanks.
