Epson R1800 driver

After installing Leopard the R1800 printer no longer worked. The only printer driver on the Epson website is for an Intel Mac, not a powerpc. A call to Epson verified there is no driver available for the powerpc. They claimed to be working on it and asked me to check back to their website periodically. As for now I have an expensive boat anchor.

Are you referring to the Easy Print driver....or a different one?
I have the Easy Print driver installed already (for about a week....if it's the same one you are referencing!) and PS3 works fine now. However, I still have very poor results with Lightroom and I'm wondering if Adobe or Apple or Epson are going to address that.
Thanks for the update.

Knackers,

Is a printer driver from Australia different from one that would be delivered to us in the states? It seems that Epson here is giving us an older printer driver from 2006 which presents my R1800 with all kinds of printing issues--color is off, there is banding in the prints, plus there is no selection in the print dialog box for remembering the type of paper. etc.

Thanks for any help,
Lindy

Only thing that I think could be different is maybe paper sizes which from memory USA a4 slightly different from Aus/UK but thats easily changed in settings. Cant see how any other things could change such as ICC profiles etc as most epson Paper and inks are iimported from America anyway. I have used USA drivers in the past as well as UK/ European et for my r1800 and on the whole havnt noticed any big difference. The aussie drivers are most probably from Epson Japan anyway as I doubt they would be writing their own here locally.

I'm still watching to see if a US version of the driver comes out. That is, I see that there is a "fixed" driver available in Australia and in the UK that resolves the issues with Lightroom. However, not yet in the US.
Why is that?
Also, I have downloaded the Easy Print driver from the US page and it works fine with PS3. I wrote to Epson twice to ask about an update and all I've gotten was a canned response both times.
Any suggestions....I'm still not sure if it's "safe" to load a driver for the UK or Australia due to paper sizes, etc. Or am I being too careful?

Thx Knackers!

This Australian driver got me back up in running after a few hours of total panic while (trying) to print my xmas cards. What I did:

- system preferences > Printers > removed Epson R1800
- reset printing system (just in case)
- reboot (always helps)
- install SPR1800_612EDGIPSs from the Australian Epson site
- tested in Aperture and CS3
- Holy M of G the Epson dialogs are back! (make sure you use EPSON in place of Gutenberg)

Thanks again - hope the US drivers come out soon

I use this driver in Aperture the only box that cannot be used in the V6.12 drivers seems to be the Color Matching box its all greyed out, and the Finest Detail box, is that the same with yours?

Cheers
