iPhone on O2 UK...

Hi Folks,

I understand a few of you seem to feel as if there is not enough information available.

Most info can be found on the O2 website.

Anyone who has any questions relating to the iPhone, feel free to ask...

I do currently work for O2, and i am fully trianed on the iPhone.

Please remeber: Any information i give is to the best of my knowledge, and no response by me is that of O2 UK.

The iPhone will be 'launched' from store's at 6. 02 pm.

U will have to be 18.

The shop will process your order, but activation f your iPhone will be done online by yourself.

With regards to EDGE, at the moment, although O2 has an EDGE network, O2 customer service do not have a tool to assess coverage.

This tool is expected to be in place by launch.

Any questions?

You need an O2 iPhone SIM card. I would ring O2 customer services and ask if they can arrange that for you. There really shouldn't be any reason why they wouldn't be willing to do this.

There is a reason why O2 won't do this, and thats because, well, they don't.

This is something they are considering, but only for legitimate O2 UK iPhones, not for unlocked handsets.

Hi all,

I've not been on here over the weekend, but i'm glad to see so many people happy with their new handsets, and those who had issues, hopefully you have them resolved.

Any issues, let me know, as i know all the processes for resolving issues.

*Visual Voicemail* - Any issues, contact customer services who will check this is set up correctly. *Please remember* you need to activate this on handset first! You will get an option to do this first time you click on VVM. Once done *dial 1750*.

*The blue E symbol for EDGE* When you no longer have EDGE, the blue symbol will stop displaying an 'E', and just be a solid blue square. This means you are then on GPRS.

musicvan - as Marc Jones stated:

8.1 In addition to anything else we can do, we can end the Agreement at any time if:

8.4 if you purchase a new iPhone from us, but in this case you agree that a new Minimum Period will apply.

bambeno1 - Please read through previous posts, this has been well explained several times. Thanks. But exactly as daj_uk stated.

An update regarding credit checks. If you are an existing customer simply adding the iPhone to your account you are not required to pass any credit check, this is only requested when creating a new account.

The last stage of activation for a new customer will confirm a credit check will be conducted. Existing customers simply upgrading to the iPhone and a iPhone tariff are not subject to this check. Your existing account is not cancelled and the iPhone is simply added to it.

Is it really going to take 'usually within 48 hours' just to get my address added to O2's PAF? The usually bit has me thinking it really means we will do it when we get around to it. I'm in the Royal Mail's PAF, just checked on the website.

Have done what the FAQ said and emailed some O2 address, but it's fairly annoying having a £269 brick sitting on my desk.

Can you call some customer service number and have them do if faster?

o2iphone,

I think a few people have asked on this thread about insurance but could you clarify the situation once and for all?

If I had to replace my iPhone within my current contract would I have to settle the remainder of the contract before buying a replacement iPhone and new contract, or would I be able to get a replacement iPhone and simply extend my existing contract by another 18 months?

There are a few threads about this with no clear answer, also the O2 site appears to be less than specific on the insurance question (i.e. what happens if I need to replace my phone but I don't have insurance).

I've got 10 days to decide if I should take out O2 insurance or whether I should rely upon my contents insurance, which will cover a new phone but not my contract.

Many thanks.

Setting your PIN and choosing preferred greeting should suffice.

I missed a call soon after activating my phone (someone super keen to try my new number), I assumed no message was left as I'd not yet set up voicemail password etc. on the phone. However when I got around to doing this the following day, using purely the options on the phone itself, one visual voicemail message appeared immediately - from the call I'd missed the day before.

I've never phoned 1750; as someone transferring from Orange to O2 for the iPhone I'd no idea 1750 existed as an option.

Hi,
As this is an issue for many people I thought I would confirm this with O2 customer services, I sent an email asking about this and the first reply talked about upgrading from my current contract etc.. and did not answer the question, I then quoted the lines from the O2 iphone terms and conditions with a link to the web site, still standard reply talking about standard upgrade terms, then asked again trying to clarify my position, this time I did at least get someone that actually read my email (usual O2 customer service, try 3 times!) and stated the following,

"Thanks for emailing us to find out if you can upgrade to the new version of iPhone in 2008 without paying any penalty.
Currently I'm unable to confirm if you'll be able to upgrade to the new version of iPhone in 2008 without paying any penalty"

So much for terms & conditions! So thats me back to Nokia land until Apple catch up with European technology and release a 3.5G/5MP camera/smnaller form factor product....maybe rev2/3! Or maybe wait for the price drop in the new year of rev1...

scoopz - I understand your concerns. O2 should be able to check coverage for you from approx. 17/11/2007 by calling them.

[ian] - reponse posted.

videoman68 - no you don't, this will be done automatically.

Cassie.B - I will get back to you on this one.

*Vestan Pance* - see my response about insurance here:

Personally, I would recommend taking the O2 insurance. I understand its £7.50 a month, but for the peace of mind, its worth it!

musicvan - Sorry, can i ask you to clarify, do you currently have an iPhone?

If yes, then if a new iPhone comes out, you CAN upgrade to it at cost of handset, and start a new 18 month term.
