LOVE Tiger, but anybody else have new soft "beeps" now?

Tiger is lightning. I couldn't believe how fast I reboot.
I did the archive and install.

BUT... (ain't there always?) uhhh... anybody else hear a very soft, steady rhythmic "beeping" (almost like a countdown) inside their G5 (2.5 for me)?

I heard this "new" sound immediately when the mute went on the office TV (plus my G5 is right up on my desk). It's soft but can't say I care for it.

Again it's very steady, almost like a countdown. Can't hear it over much, but I sure don't like my office quiet (kids away, TV off) as it gets into my head.

I never had this problem since I installed tiger. Luckily I have a Carbon Copy of my 10.3.9 on a FireWIre disk. U guessed it, booting up from that, there's no cricket. Also, in Safari under Tiger, whenever the QuickTime plug in is used, it makes the fans go crazy for 10 secs. It's so annoying. Any one booted up in 10.3.9 since updating to Tiger from another disk and had the same result?

Count me in. I just got my PMG5 Dually 2.7 last week. I didn't notice the
soft beeping till the next day and sure enough it's been there ever since.
Definitely audible when all around you is silent. Very methodical...., like every
second. Not what I expected from a 3k+ machine. Hope apple has a fix for
this very soon.

The beeps just keep getting worse. My computer now when I turn it on, as it is booting up to the desktop, makes this terrible noise. It is a mix of the famous "beep" and now has another lower pitch beep that sounds like a squeaky swing set that needs oil. I can't live with my computer making these noises. I left the Windows world to rid myself of computer problems and paid dearly for it. Please don't tell me it was a mistake.

My beeps are still staying the same. Sorry yours are wigging out worse, Chris.

I know your frustrated, but you know the facts why you switched in the first place. Your in much better hands, MUCH. After all Micro$oft can't even copy fast. Boy my machine is so much faster now w/ Tiger. They'll fix it.

Heck the wife's iMac wigs out after sleep and NOBODY is posting about it unde rthe iMac page and it's listed as a fix in 10.4.1! So this thread should be getting lots of attention at Apple, is my guess.

Count me in, this thing sounds like the sonar in a submarine. It is kind of annoying, I need to crank up the speaker volume to get over it. I thought that the PSU chirping was bad but this is insane. What the heck is it? Is is one of the PWM fans inside?
It beeps about once every second. Apple, please fix this ASAP.
By the way, this became noticeable after I installed Tiger. I used the upgrade option.

Jim
