Google Maps Error Message - "Driving directions could not be received"

Hi guys, i've had my iPhone for quite a while now and lately I'm getting the error message "Driving directions could not be received" when I'm in the maps application. I've reset the phone and I'm still getting that message. Any ideas as to whats going on?

I have the same driving directions problem. It used to work, now it doesn't. I don't think it was related to a software update or sync. I have restarted, but not totally restored my phone. Will that make me lose anything, or will it resync with whatever is on the itunes settings? This was one of my most used functions, and I really want it back!!

I think the problem may have something to do with Google's map database. I've been testing the directions function (since it went defunk'd) on basically the same set of directions and it never works (it used to work but not now). Anyhow... I entered a bunch (probably more than 10) of different addresses today and 1 out of 10 worked. Point is... one did work! I don't think this is a software/app issue, rather the database.

This is an extremely bogus development with the maps. It worked great for a week or so and now keeps giving the "Driving directions could not be received."

I hope this gets fixed before 1/10/08 when i can still return it! Ok who am I kidding, this gadget is great and its not going back. But maps is awesome and should work 4.0

BTW, with no luck I searched Google's site to see where to submit a bug report. If anyone knows how to submit a bug report to Google, please pass the info along.

Well, I would buy this argument, but why would it be in the database one day, and then gone the next? I mean, shouldn't the database grow with time, not shrink? I used to be able to get directions to anywhere, and now I have not had any luck! Not even 1 in 10!! I have to believe this is a software glitch...

I've had no luck retyping each time either. I am basically lost in the wilderness of suburbia now. I hate the thought of shelling out money for a GPS system, when my phone used to basically serve the same function.

Does apple monitor these discussions? Is there a way to alert them of this issue? I wonder how many others have this problem and don't know because they don't usually use this function?
