Keynote Won't Play video on presentation

I am doing a presentation for school and I am trying to put in a .mov file into my presentation. When I play my presentation, all that I can hear is the sound of the video but not picture, the screen is just blank. I've tried different formats and different videos and nothing seems to work. I am just going to play if off my monitor that is connected to my Mac mini, I am not going to connect it to a projector or anything like that. Videos do play normally on QuickTime. Anyone know a solution of have heard of this problem before? I am using Keynote '08 and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Mac mini 1.83 Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD, Mac OS X (10.5), PowerMac G3 Server (10.2.8), iMac Sage, iMac 333, and iBook SE 466

I opened an old Keynote document tonight and one slide refused to play, just showing a black screen. It contains a H264 Quicktime video. I have also upgraded all my software to the latest versions (Tiger) as well, since I last used the document.

However, looking at this forum and checking the Keynote Preference "Preferences>Slideshow>Allow Expose to use screen" as suggested it worked straight away!!!

Better still, I could prove it was the cause because when I unchecked the Preference the black screen problem came back.

Thanks for your help.

I am sure you are all having the same problem. We at Apple are aware of this ongoing problem but have no intention of fixing it. Apple Computer Corp. is a "for profit" organization. We have determined that with all the users of the Keynote product, that we oversold the product with minimal margin. We hope to release a working copy of Keynote once we raise the margins to a level that is acceptable to our bankers. Once we get enough money in the bank, we will slowly try to fix the problems associated with Keynote. In the meantime, please feel to utilize PowerPoint.

Greetings from Latvia! Yes, I also feel that this is Apple's attitude - we won't fix it until we are told to do it by Steve himself. Sad... I reported them this issue one month ago and they still havn't fixed it. Today I had to include video in my presentation and again I couldn't see it. This time I decided to go to the Apple Support Forums for help, because I don't feel that Apple is going to solve anything here. And sure enough, I found useful answers from other users! Thank you guys!

Hi,

Just like everybody else I am having the exact same problem with my Keynote 08. The thing is that this doesn't happen on my Keynote 06 (Thank God I kept it!!!). I just inserted the same movies in my Keynote 6 and they play just fine. Actually, I realized that the 06 version runs smoother than the 08. I have had several problems with the 08 like shutting down during saving, sometimes I cannot save the presentation at all, shutting down when I copy a picture into the presentation etc. These issues do not happen with the 06. I hope Apple fixes Keynote 08, because it is becoming a pain to make a presentation with it.
