Error occurred while merging data

I'm a newbie to the mac world but have been using my IPhone and loving it. However when I plugged in the Iphone to my new IMac I get this:
Itunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while merging data.
I started getting that same message a few weeks ago on my PC, but just figured it was because of a soon to be replaced pc was...well soon to be replaced. Any thoughts?

IMAC, Mac OS X (10.5)

My iCal synch is fixed! I did the reset synch history and I also reset all settings on my Iphone. Then, and this is the key (I think), I displayed my Iphone calendar in 'list' mode. I went through all my events from the beginning of the calendar. I found one event that had no 'title'. Somehow I added an event in September that I didn't mean to. I deleted this event and synch. It worked.

I had the same problem, using WinXP. Did the sync reset--nothing.

Open Calendar on iPhone, put it in list mode, search from the beginning, scroll to the top most item, then scroll down looking for Calendar events "all day _____" then a blank. Open it up & delete it. Do this for the entire calendar, until sometime in 2010, when the scrolling stops. It's the blank date calendar entries on the iPhone that is doing it. Probably the same on a Mac.

That did it for me.
