iPod touch restore error 1604

My iPod touch has been working well for some weeks. When I tried to connect it to my PowerBook yesterday it downloaded a new version of iTunes. Since then it is in restore mode and has an "unknown error 1604". This continues after re-installing iTunes on my Powerbook. Who can help?

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

if your using windows just make new accounts and keep updating your itouch and keep on doing it. it will work. well it did for me. thanks good luck.

OK! Problem solved! 🙂
I connected the Touch to a Mac G4 Powerbook Dual Core running OS 10.5 and iTunes 7.5.
ITunes downloaded the Touch 1.1.2 upgrade and did the right thing.

take ipod to the apple store and tell the guy it wont restore then he will take the ipod and restore it for you

I've upgraded a new ipod touch (empty) to 1.1.2 but it's fail with error 1604.
I've tried all solution found on web without success !

What can i do ??

I can only guess that its here --> ~/Library/Application Support

home -> library -> application support

By following the instructions and deleting iTunes, will all of my songs, movies, etc be permanently deleted?
