Macbook Pro Unable to Burn DL DVDS

I'm sure that my MacBook Pro has the ability to burn DVD-DLs. But everytime I try to, it fails in Toast.

Looking into my System Profiler, I don't see DVD-DL support anymore:

HL-DT-ST DVDRW GSA-S10N:

Firmware Revision: AP09
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 0 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

Any help?

And what does "Apple Shipping Drive" mean?

THANKS

Restart the computer with the Option, Command, P, and R keys held down, and release the keys after the second startup chime. This is sometimes necessary as the Mac may lose track of what its optical drive is capable of doing.

And what does "Apple Shipping Drive" mean?

This may mean that it came with the computer.

I tried the option-command-p-r, and i was able to recognize burning dl in the system profiler.

I'm using Toast 8 Titanium 8.0.3 (166)

I tried burning a DL dvd, and then I get the error:

"The drive reported an error:
Sense key = HARDWARE ERROR
Sense Code = 0x09, 0x01
TRACKING SERVO FAILURE"

And when I look back in system profiler, it once again doesn't recognize the ability to burn DVD DL

Ever since I upgraded to Leopard and Toast 8.03 two weeks ago I haven't been able to burn a DL DVD. I am getting the same error messages as other members of this discussion group. I wrote to Roxio and they replied by saying that Toast 8 is compatible with Leopard. I am using the same DL DVD that have always use. I hope a solution is found soon.

What you may be missing here is that your drives are able to burn DVD+R DL but not DVD-R DL. The + and the - are not the same. I just tried a DVD-R DL on my MacBook Pro that I got from a friend, but the disc didn't work at all. I put in my own DVD+R DL and it worked just fine.

Our drives are not compatible with DVD-R DL. Unfortunate but true.

Unless someone can prove me wrong?

I'm having this problem as well, and have tried with several other programs. I was hoping it would be solved with the release of 10.5.2 yesterday, but no luck. Spent an hour on the phone with support on Sunday and got no help at all. The guy had no clue what was wrong. Has anyone had any luck with this problem? Is it an acknowledged fault with Leopard, or something that simultaneously went wrong with all our opticals, or what?
