Mail Prints Blank

I am having an email printing problem which appears to be completely random. On a laptop with system 10.4.11 when we print certain emails it only prints the header and doesn't print the content of the message. I have verified that there is no portion of the message selected (which would only print that selected area). The emails are from a variety of different accounts and includes emails that are sent and recieved, it doesn't have to be an email with an attachment, it does it when there is no attachment sometimes also. It happens with about 5% of the emails, once we try printing it again most of the time it prints. Not always.

G4 1.5 Mhz Powerbook, Mac OS X (10.4.11), MAIL 2.0.7

I'm not sure if this is related, but I've also had a few weird printing problems from Safari since this update. Can't print pdfs from Safari unless I use the print icon on the pdf page itself--if I just use the Fine/Print command the pages print blank. And sometimes now when I print web pages from Safari the vertical scroll bar on the right side of the page totally disappears. The email's the most frustrating though.

ME TOO!!!!... yes Mac at home and Macs at work have the same issue... not printing the body of an email, only the top, to get around it is to check the print, then close and re-open Mail... have a lot of paper with no message!... very annoying.

Anyway I print ALOT of emails... loads... tons... anyway this ISSUE has occurred only since the last update.

If there is a fix, it will be happening as how many Apple Employees this must be happening to, unless they use Entourage.

It is a random thing, I think it is a cache issue or a font issue (speculative)

Problem continuing now, on incoming mail not limited to Windows servers.

I've found that hitting Command-[
followed by Command-]
does something to the emails that allows them to print okay.

There's nothing in the help documentation that explains what this means:
"Show previous alternative (in multipart message)" Command-[
"Show next alternative (in multipart message)" Command-]

But it allows me to print okay.

Someone help with an explanation, please.

I figured out that I can use the Long Headers button to see if a message is plain text or multipart.
I have no trouble printing plain text.
Can anyone else verify that it is only multipart messages that are screwing up?

Thanks for the tip about Command-Command! At least that's shorter than going through Preview. I discovered another fly in the ointment of the last update this morning when I tried to open PowerPoint and it quits as soon as it opens. I found another thread about this new glitch which sounds like it may also relate to fonts or Windows Server:

This is really great for me to run my business when I can't open any of the PPTs my clients send me.

Yes I too am having the same problem. It changes from day to day. An email I printed only the header info yesterday printed fine today. Another that only printed headers yesterday still only printed headers today. Very inconsistent. How do we troubleshoot that Apple. Mac PPC G4 800mhz 512MB ram OS10.4.11. The only common denominator in all of these is Mail and OS 10.4.11. Apple please recognize this or give us something to troubleshoot with. It started with one mac at work and now it is 2. How far will this spread. what is the trigger that makes it happen. Only for a couple of days on my mac but for the last couple of weeks on anothers mac.

this is Apples way of saving the trees, so don't print anything and then all is good. Though if any persons would like some recycled paper with email headers printed one side only. $1 a ream

joking... seriously though nothing worse than having to go back through emails to find the email that didn't print or now standing over the printer making sure it prints....

Bizarre Mail printing issues aboud!
My problem is that it only prints the second page, for example:
1.With a one page email it prints a blank sheet.
2.With a two page email it prints the second page but not the first.

I've not updated to 10.4.11 so I can't see that the updater can be the problem.
I've tried all the above suggestions but nothing has worked so far.
I totally agree with the previous comment that this is Apples way of reducing it's carbon footprint.

Come on guys & gals don't let me down, I've always found a solution to my rare Mac problems through this discussion site over the years.

Same thing. Since the last OS upgrade.
I have the same issue when printing an email.
The header prints – not the body copy.
I just print again - and it usually works. If that doesnt work, the 3rd time printing usually is successful!!!

I print to a HP 8150N laser printer. Email is through LAN & Xserve.

What a waste! Help us please, Apple!!!

Thank you!
