Creating Callouts?

I believe what you're looking for can be faked in Keynote, just maybe not as automatic as you're used to in PowerPoint. I haven't used PowerPoint's callouts, so can you describe what "look" they give you?

Keynote does not have a selection of callouts like PowerPoint does. You can indeed fake this up as you suggest, however, and once you have created a callout (or set of callouts), they can be reused by simply copying them.

Yes, that would be a pain to have to recreate those every time. As Tulse said, you can create a library of them to use, though, and either store them in a separate Keynote document, or in something like CuteClips3.

The current iClip 4 doesn't store the shape clips as native shapes, though. iClip Lite does, though. (iClip for stores the information as PDF's which can't have the fill or stroke edited).

Thank you, I checked it out, I did not know these were called call out, I called them bubbles (not a native English speaker). we do have some of those in the shape menu the others we do not and I can see why you might have needed them.

Now that I've given it some further thought, I believe "callouts" as they have been used can be created more impressively using Keynote's effects (much in the same way that bulleted comparison lists can be recreated as easier to understand tables). Using a large black shape with some transparency to fade out the slide while simultaneously using the "Pop" build to bring up the callout seems that it would be visually pleasing (a method Apple has used in their presentations).

I had to google for them, because I didn't know them either.

The oval callout from PP is called "Quote Bubble" in KN, so you calling them bubbles seems appropriate 😉

Kyn, do you have an example where Apple has used the effect?

I'll see if I can find this effect in one of their Keynotes that are still posted online. In the meantime, I can post an example of what I'm talking about. I'll post here when it's done.
