1.0.3 :: Share Your Experiences

I'm on my 3rd iPod Classic 160GB & was smart; I left the firmware v1.0fc1 on it that it came with out of the box due to the MANY well known issues we've all experienced with 1.0.2.

Anyways, I just noticed 2 threads talking about the available 1.0.3. It must have been released a few hours ago b/c there's only 2 threads on it.

_*MY QUESTIONS:*_

Before I update to 1.0.3, can someone who has already updated to it please answer the following:

1) Has the battery leaking issue been resolved?

2) Will it play in a speaker docking station now without sleeping when controlled via Remote Control?

3) How was Cover Flow improved / enhanced (least of my worries).

4) Is there more features & activity available for the Calendar & Contacts feature or do they still need to be mostly controlled from your computer?
I ask b/c I'm an iPod addict & also have a iPod Touch 16GB & it's latest update (1.1.2) now allows users to create their own events on their calendar whereas before calendar entries could ONLY be created on a computer.

Please reply if you know any answers to my questions & 'share the knowledge'.

Upgraded to 1.0.3 about 30 minutes ago. I have three seasons of Battle Star Galactica, and the only thing that happened is that they are now sorted in reverse chronological order - oldest first, newest last, a big improvement in my view as I like watching them in the right order. (Yeah!)

The update didn't install properly, sent my iPod screen into like an OLD O/S when connected.

Now I have to restore my iPod with over 120GB of content!

I don't think it's gonna change since this is not a bug. you have to understand when you're playing something on the iPod you're ALWAYS playing playlists. no matter if you play a single song, a playlist, a smart playlist, an album, a video or anything else.
the iPod creates a temporary, static playlist and plays it. when you shuffle anything, the iPod takes all the things that shall be shuffled, throws them around to create a random order, creates a playlist that contains the songs in random order and plays it. if you turn shuffle off, the iPod of course has to create a new playlist and that results in your display going to "1 of XXX", since the iPod is playling a completly new playlist.

maybe that COULD be changed, but I think all other methods to play songs would be way slower (imagine if the iPod would not do it this way. first of all, if you play something in shuffle-mode, there would be no guarantee that songs don't come up numerous times while others weren't played at all. the iPod could store the played songs which takes time. also, the iPod would have to shuffle again after each song has played, which also takes time => slow)

OK,

I took more time checking this update and found following:
-My pictures on the iPod are now shown sorted by "Events" (like in my iPhoto '08)
-Contacts: funny, when you have a contact in your addressbook with the "home page" tag, on the iPod it shows up as "Work", Birthday date is missing (all this shows up correctly on my iPod Touch...

All in all a very good update, now waiting that Apple gets those contact tags fixed... (and the other small issues like Tetris black box icon.

As I am currently travelling, anybody had the chance to check how the iPod works now with an Apple Hi-Fi?

All of my photo's are being re-optimized.
Kind of hoping that this will fix the photo display bug, I'll let you know if I'm still awake when it finishes :-O

Happy that I only loaded a few hundred with 1.0.2 as I thought this might happen.
Anyone else experienced this?

Yes,
my pics synched also again (approx. 2000 pics) but I didn't had any issues with FW 1.0.2 and my pictures.

I think this is done, as the iPod now sorts the Pictures not by album but by "Events", like iPhoto '08.

I can now view all my photo's using the center button rather than just by slideshow and the use scroll wheel to navigate through them!

Just wish that iTunes allowed me to add them a bit better, but I guess that is for another thread!

Hi,
I just upgraded to 1.0.3 and yet there is a new bug...when I scroll to music menu and then artists, the right side of the sreen says no artists (I got over 20GB of properly tagged music on my ipod) and I cant even enter the artists folder...no big deal, at least in my case, as I never use this feature anyway...interesting though....anyone experiencing the same bug?

My experience:
-Shuffle doesn´t work. When you press 3 times center-bottom in "current song" and put shuffle, is the same than nothing. 😟
-Not enter to notes faster than before.
-In notes menu, now we have one called "lyrics". But it does not work! And yes, i have a few lyrics in the ipod.
-Improve in photos. No bug any more.
-Cover flow?? i don´t notice big difference. 😟

The battery bug is solved???

Yes I am sure Apple said, "Hey let's screw with FeedMeTrance with our next update," I have that much music and everything updated fine.
