iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store - Error

Recently purchased my first iPod, 80GB Classic, and it works great. However, I have been having issues with iTunes since day one. I need to access the iTunes Store to track down some album artwork and I keep receiving the following error message:

iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store: Make sure your network connection is active and try again.

At the time of this error, I am accessing the internet just fine. I also went ahead and removed all Norton programs and deactivated Windows Firewall entirely to no avail. I have also uninstalled iTunes repeatedly and even tried older versions of the software, also to no avail.

Even the diagnostics check comes back with no problems but I still cannot access the iTunes store.

I'm having this problem as well. I tried upgrading to 7.5, I don't have firewall settings in the way (all I'm using is the standard Windows firewall - I'm doing a lot of other much needed work before I buy and install the Norton one), and even on my other IBM running a slightly older version of iTunes I'm still not getting anywhere. My system sits for over an hour before saying that it can't connect to the server. Tried changing the password, still no good.

iTunes was working perfectly, but it told me i needed to upgrade to be able to download a certain song, so I did. Ever since it has given me an error message and no access to the store. We bought 2 iPods as Christmas gifts this year and I'd really like to have them all loaded up and ready to go when they're opened. Any advice?

Exact same situation as below, tih a little more. Internet connectivity fine, diagnostic says connection to store is fine, etc. Moreover, this problem is with a separate user account on the same computer. The other user account has no problems connecting to the store. I need this before Xmas because the second account is for my 6 yr old and I want to load his iPod before giving it to him. Help!

First time iPod owner here. I just bought it last night. Not happy so far.

I also work on computers for a living so I'm pretty savvy with this stuff.

My iTunes can't connect to the store and I've tried everything: turning off firewall, changing all IE 7 settings, uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh copy of iTunes, and all the suggestions I've found on the Internet this thread included.

Someone please help me out. If this doesn't get fixed this junk is going back to the store and I'll never consider another Apple product.

I am having the same problem as other users, and am very frustrated, and hoped you could look at my diagnostics and help me - I have spent the past 5 hours on xmas eve trying to figure out this problem...I can access the internet, my computer is up-to-date, I have the most recent version of itunes installed, and I have made sure that I have established an account. However, when I try to connect to the itunes store via itunes, I get an error message that my connection is not connecting properly. I have run diagnostics, as follows:
The only thing I can think of is to turn off my windows firewall...How do I do this and do you think it will work? Help, please! This is a gift for my mom for xmas and I want to put some music on the ipod before I give it to her in the morning....Thank you so much in advance!! 🙂 Regards, MW 🙂
