WiFi Disable = Hard Lockup!!

Hello,
Could anyone else please confirm that disabling WiFi under XP/Boot Camp on a Santa Rosa Macbook Pro causes a hard system lockup?!
I then have to re-boot using "Previously known good configuration" to get back to the desktop.
Its driving me nuts as the Wireless card seems to conflict with the Firewire bus (disrupting Firewire audio), plus also I'd like to be able to extend battery life, be able to run XP/Boot Camp on flights etc.

Thanks for your time guys.

Wow - well this all took the best part of a year to sort out, but I can categorically state after intensive testing, that installing the latest Atheros v7.6.0.260 drivers for Windows XP has COMPLETELY SOLVED THIS ISSUE FOR ME!!!
I can now freely disable/enable the WLAN within Device Manager without encountering any problems whatsoever - its actually quite unnerving, as I keep expecting it to lock up....
Anyways, happy days at last!! 🙂

I had the same problem - I downloaded the file and installed it. Fingers crossed - this problem has been nagging me from the beginning. If this works out, I'll buy you a beer.

And by the way, Apple, if my next computer is not from you, it'll be for this issue. Also I'll be telling everyone about the problem I had. FIX THE BROKEN DRIVER.

Just tossing my hat into the circle here. Also having the shuttering sound in bootcamp issues.

At one point I managed to fix the issue in XP with a combo. of updated broadcom and realtek drivers, but nothing seems to work in windows vista or even Windows 7 betas ( what I would like to run BTW, Testing for fun ).

This is indeed disappointing that apple has not responded sooner to an issue that seems to affect a pretty good chunk of their user base. Here's hoping the community can find a fix soon.

hello,

so glad to hear that the solution is working for everyone but I have a quick question regarding the fix. I installed the Atheros v7.6.0.260 drivers and they did allow me to disable and enable wifi with no problem but now windows freezes on me on every startup and i have to go back to last known config to get it to boot up. Is this happening to anyone else? thanks
