UNINSTALLING OS 9

Hi,
Does anyone know how to remove OS9? It takes up space and I never use it.
I would like to uninstall it but I don't know how?!!?!?

HELP!

Thank you,

Alexandra

To remove OS9 from my system I actually had to take individual files to the trash. Then I could trash the OS9 system folder. I still have a question. I noticed that when I go to OSX System Preferences, there is still an OS9 preference shown at the bottom. How do I get rid of the OS9 icon referenced in the system preferences? Clicking on the OS9 icon still pops up the preference table specific to OS9 even though it had been trashed. I would have thought all references to OS9 would have been erased. Does this have something to do with a OSX plist file or something?

Any Ideas?

Danny: The Classic pane in System Preferences is part of OS X. It's there to allow you to make the necessary connections to use OS 9 as Classic if you or anyone else ever needs to use Classic in the future. It is not part of OS 9, and would not be reinstalled if you reinstalled OS 9.

Think of it as something akin to an unused electrical outlet on your wall. You aren't likely to remove that outlet and plaster over the hole in the wall just because you don't need to plug anything in there at the moment. It uses a negligible amount of space, is part of the building, and offers a convenience that might be useful in the future.

Hi, Danny -

Does this have something to do with a OSX plist file or something?

Perhaps; I don't use OSX, so have little knowledge about such. You might post about it in the appropriate OSX forum.

If you're referring to the Classic pane in OSX's System Preferences, that will always be there - it does not represent an OS 9 install, rather it is the set of OSX preference settings that control how OSX would use Classic. It will be there whether or not OS 9 (Classic) has been installed.
