Leopard Pre-installation Questions

I have a 20 inch Intel Imac with 2 gig of ram, 500 gig hard drive and 256 video ram. I've just ordered Leopard and hope to get it my 12/21. My plans are to run Windows Vista home premium by way of boot camp. I would like to do a clean install of Leopard. Is there an option to clean my hard drive of Tiger before installing Leopard? Are there any known main issues with running Vista home premium through boot camp. I do a lot of photo editing with large files - 3 to 38 megs. I also have a Windows Vista machine that has 3 gigs of ram and handles my editing with no problems. I would like to make my Imac 3 gigs. How do I upgrade it? Do I need to take it to a local Apple dealer? I don't seem to see a place on my monitor to get into it to add anything. If it is possible to add the ram myself what would be a good suggestion as to brand and place to buy?
A lot of thanks in advance for answering a lot of questions.

In the link I gave it describes about the + sign when trying to change permissions...

If you have an "unknown" group associated with a file or folder, when you click on the + sign and try to add or change a group, the finder crashes..... Not Good...

That's why Apple posted that temporary fix so people could at least change the file and folder permissions....

Just something to be aware of when installing Leopard and maybe how a person is going to install Leopard.

Joseph Kritz -

Thanks! You've been a big help.

It all seems hit and miss. One machine may go one way; one another.

Called AppleCare (for what it's worth, but I paid when I bought all these machines) and they said go w/ the basic install - rhetorically - would they say anything else?

Since I've got nothing funky installed, and since all my machines are less than a year old with clean systems, I'm going to do the clone (obviously) in case there are issues, and do an install over what I have; if it screws, I'll roll back and then do the A&I. Knock on wood so to speak.

I'll post back if issues arise, and in that event, hopefully can also post a fix.

Good Choice.
Glad to be of help...

I have installed Leopard about 12 times for different clients on all different types of Apple computers.
I have used the Upgrade Install without any hitches other than the "unknown" group.

This hasn't bothered them but it is obviously worth mentioning in a business type network just so a person knows what might need to be addressed should sharing problems arise.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you.

Thank you, Now all I need to resolve is how toboot into my Lacie external HD that was (what I thought bootable )in tiger. At least i could see it if I booted holding down the option key or just going into system pref's StartUp disk I could see it there to choose from. It is mounted on the desktop but I can't boot into it. I did all the power downs, unplugs, used different fire wire ports, waited 15 min and no luck.

CCC has always been a time consuming hassle, and they provide little help if you need it…

I resemble that remark, especially since I moderate the CCC forums and have spent the last four years providing extensive help to many. I've also beta-tested SuperDuper!. There are pros and cons about both apps, but I still prefer CCC. If you have particulars, post to the Bombich.forums and maybe we can change your opinion.

I only speak from experience; I used CCC for years until 2 ago when the folks at SD saved me while on the very same emergency CCC was of no help; 3 times since I've needed to go back and SD was a salvation in a fraction of an hour.

But - this is not a forum to prompt product. Hope you took no offense, as none was intended.
