Music stops playing and iPod Touch returns to home screen
I was listening to my music and i was on track 68 out of 75 and suddenly, half way through the song, the iPod stopped playing the music and returned to the home menu. I pressed the hold button and on the bar at the top before I unlocked it, it displayed the name of the song that was playing before it stopped, however, I could not find the Now Playing button anywhere, nor would the iPod recognise that it was supposed to be playing that song so I had to select a new song.
Has anyone else had this problem or know a solution or even a reason why it does this?
Help appreciated.
Thanks.

They read it.
They don't reply to it.
If enough folks ask/complain about something, my guess is it's acted upon.
Patience is a virtue here.
Apple is really good, so I have faith that we're not wasting time.
Add one more to the list. I am on my second iPod Touch in as many weeks and they both have this problem. I am hoping this is a fluke. I really want to love the iPod especially as this is the first Apple "anything" I've ever owned. It's sweet...except when it does this. C'mon Apple, this problem goes back months from some of the sites and posts I've seen. It's time to do something about this!! Don't be another Microsoft! Don't make regret taking a chance.
I have been having the same exact problem, and I just got my iTouch yesterday which is the craziest thing.
However, it only happens when I go on Safari, but it's happened quite a few times. It won't go to the home screen though, it'll just stay on Safari, but the music abruptly stops.
Apple hasn't even looked into this issue?
Today I had a fdifferent issue; a volume control came up, which is not part of the Touch I don't think. It was black and white and was a small square. It came up whilst I was watching a video. Also, the More [...] button on the bottom of the Touch has become really unresponsive. I have to press it multiple times and quite hard ot get it to do anything. The other buttons are not like this. In fact, the far right side of the screen has become quite unresponsive now that I think about it.
I have found so many bugs in this product - I think I've found 7! And they're all pretty annoying too. Yet Apple doesn't seem to be issuing updates for it.
To be honest, I don't really notice bugs in Windows. I tend to notice them more on devices that are a lot less complex and that I pay a lot more attention to. Since the iPod mainly plays music, you're bound to notice a lot more bugs because there are less things that it has to do.
And if this is an attempt to start a Windows vs. Mac OS X debate, then please don't bother, because that is irrelevant to this topic and will not help me in the slightest.
Settle down.
Anyone that knows me knows I don't play that.
The point was that all devices/computers have bugs.
The Touch is a new device.
Apple will fix things as they can.
Will it be perfect?
Don't know.
Is it close enough for me?
Pretty much.
I've sent tons of feedback, and I suggest you do the same.
I am pragmatic and pessimistic and I love the X-Files, so here is my theory as to why Apple hasn't "taken notice" of this problem. I suspect that this problem is more than just software, that somewhere there is a definite (or strongly suspected) tie to the hardware or manufacturing process. And because software alone won't fix the problem, those of us that have G1 of the iTouch will just have to deal. G2 won't have this problem. Y'all can nay-say this all you want, but let's come back to this a year or two from now and see who's right!!! 🙂
Apple...are you listening? This would be a perfect time to prove the pessimistic pragmatist wrong!!!! 😉 What's that? Silence? Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Try restoring your touch and also make sure that all your music is in AAC format. I was having the same problem and this so far seems to solve the issue. I have been able to use safari and music at the same time.
Also, does the touch no longer keep play counts because my old mini used to change your play counts when you connected it to itunes so the play count was as accurate as possible. i've played lots of songs through my touch, and the songs i played yesterday haven't said they were last played yesterday in itunes, even though i've connected my touch since then.
I just double checked and it is working. I play a song on touch and when i synced the play count changes. Try resetting your play count and see if that helps.
I don't really like the idea of resetting my play count on itunes since I rely on it a lot for playlists and such. Do you have any other suggestions? I was also using Cover Flow on my touch today and three times in a row it returned to the home screen when I touched it in a certain place when a certain album was showing.
